After everything that happened with Mushroom at the old house they had to keep going. Even though their pain was strong after losing another family member, Sean knew that things could only get better from now on. It had to. They had to reach a safe place, a warm place since Daniel still hadn't got any better. How could he? They were running and running, sleeping in caves and old abandoned houses. It was surprising that Sean didn't get sick yet. He knew that their grandparents lived not too far away and was sure that he and his brother would be safe there and Daniel would get the medicine he needed. But it still was a two day march. One in which hopefully nothing bad would happen to them.
On their way to their grandparents house, Daniel asked many questions. Are they going to like him? Are they nice? Would they buy him Christmas presents? The two brothers talked and joked a lot, after a few hours however Daniel complained that he was tired and hungry but he wouldn't want to eat any ravioli anymore but rather chocolate. After some discussion Sean gave up and promised his little brother that they would stop at the next store and buy some chocolate for him. With that in mind, Daniel was more than happy to go on.
The next store they encountered was a small gas station just outside of Beaver Creek. Only one car was standing outside, so Sean hoped not many people would be in there. Entering the store, Daniel ran towards the shelf with different chocolate bars in it and started going through them all to find something he liked. Sean however looked around the store, luckily not many people were here. In fact only the cashier and a girl that sat on a bank next to the entrance and read a book. She looked rather bored and if she'd rather be anywhere else but here. He stared at her for a while, till she looked up from her book and directly at him. Sean panicked a little, looked away and went looking for something to eat, something other than chocolate.
After picking up some new rations, Sean told Daniel to hurry up. While the cashier was already scanning the items, Daniel came forwards with at least 10 different chocolate bars. The older brother gave him a 'Seriously?' look, while the cashier grew impatient, not that he had much to do anyway. "Daniel, you know we can't pay for all that. Take one, we have to save our money." "But that's not fair! You can buy all this soups, but I can have only one?" Sean wasn't in the mood to lecture Daniel about the importance of money at this given moment and told him to put the rest away or else he wouldn't get any at all.
While the boys were arguing, the girl that had sat still and read her book in peace got up, went to the cashier and gave him 20$ to pay for their stuff. Sean, after hearing the cash register, turned around to the scene. He was completely caught off guard and didn't know what to say. He didn't want people to pay for his food. But he also knew that this was probably for the better. He moved his mouth, trying to form words but nothing came out. "You're Welcome." She gave him a sweet smile, then turned to leave but stopped before the door and turned around. "Well, if you really want to thank me, you could...give me your number?" Sean couldn't believe any of this was happening. He met a cute girl, which even paid his food and only wants his number as exchange. He knew there must be a catch. And then he remembered that he had to throw his phone away and didn't really had a number anymore. "I'd love to..b-but I don't know it and I left my phone at home. Just give me yours. I-I'm Sean, by the way," he then pointed to his little brother ", and this is my brother Daniel." She gave him a weird look but took out a small note, quickly wrote something on it and happily gave it to Sean. "Well, Sean and Daniel. It's nice to meet you. I'm Y/N." Before Sean could say something, another girl entered the store. "Y/N, we gotta go now. It's getting late and I really don't want to be late for dinner." Y/N gave the brothers one last smile and made her way towards the exit. "Well, then. I hope I will hear from you, Sean. Oh, and uh. Don't eat too much chocolate, Daniel." And with that she left. While Sean was still in awe, Daniel was getting bored and wanted to leave. When they arrived at their grandparent's home, he would definitely call her.
