the news of their engagement had come as no surprise to those around them, nonetheless everyone was ecstatic and congratulating the two (well more like teasing them but either way it was endearing).
after 3 years of dating lee donghae had gotten down on one knee and proposed to kim taeyeon, who he claims is the love of his life, though no one can deny it as it seemed the two were made for each other.
what their friends were mostly surprised that it wasn't taeyeon that had asked seeing as she was the one who pushed more and hesitated less in their relationship. the day they announced their engagement sooyoung had won a bet they had all set up and got $20 from each of their friends.
and of course as promised, taeyeon had made tiffany the maid of honor as she had asked 3 years ago, instantly becoming actively involved in helping the pair plan their wedding.
if it was possible, there was more love between the two and even with the sometimes hectice schedules that took them overseas for weeks on end, they never lost touch and made sure to at least call each other for as long as possible.
taeyeon's parents and her two siblings all gave donghae their blessing, having him promise to always take care of her and keep her happy while simultaneously thanking him for loving the girl as much, and maybe even more, as they do.
donghae's mother loved taeyeon, instantly accepting her with open arms and congratulated her son in finding such a woman that will deal with him, and teased him for taking so long in finding her.

the wedding ceremony was a mix of korean and western traditions; the two were married off by a priest (due to the lee's religion) and they performed the first dance as a married couple. to them though, it felt like every time they had danced in the middle of their living room in the late nights they would stay up.
of course the reception was filled with crazy stories of the two from friends and family members, a couple of strange toasts to the newlywed couple, and a speech from donghae's mother that made even taeyeon tear up, promising to love her now-husband as much as she can for the rest of their days.
despite it being their own wedding, the couple had retired early as their friends kept celebrating as if there was no tomorrow. donghae, who was completely sober, drove a slightly intoxicated taeyeon back to their home, her white dress basically stuffed into the passengers seat of his car.
now the warm lights of their bedroom illuminated their figures as they sluggishly changed out of their fancy attire and into their much more comfortable pajamas.
there was silence between the two; they were both ecstatic in this new step in their relationship, but also extremely tired, so without any words donghae simply started gently wiping taeyeon's face clean of any makeup while she softly hummed the song she had been serenaded with during the reception.
now everything is perfect feels like I have the world drunk with this song that resembles you it's enough to just look at you
after he was finished they simply stared at each other with adoring eyes, and of course they both swore that they saw the entire universe in one another the same way they had even before they were together.
taeyeon was the first to break the silence, bringing her legs up to cross them on their bed, "can you believe we're married now."
her hair was a bit tousled and her voice quiet, almost like a whisper, but donghae knew that he would never find anyone or anything as beautiful as she was in that moment.
"not really, no.", both their cheeks were dusted pink and he incased her hands with his, stroking the back of her hand with his thumb. a loving gesture he had developed even in the midst of their strange friendship.
"you know i love you right?"
of course she knew, she may have not known until his confession, but she had looked back and noticed all the subtle ways he had showed her from how he gifted her new paints to the way he would patiently wait for her to come back to her senses from her sudden depressed episodes for even weeks on end.
she hummed in acknowledgment and brough their hands up to her lips, planting a soft kiss on his knuckles, her mouth lightly brushing against the cold metal of his wedding ring.
she smiled when she put their hands down and with the upmost sincerity she said, "i love you too."
with that the lights were off and the two got under the soft blankets on their bed, donghae instantly wrapping his arms around her waist while she layed her head on his chest, falling asleep to the sound of his heartbeat.
