Far away, he'd watched you from Asgard ever since you had prayed to him. He'd heard your voice upon the seas of many others, calling out for a piece of wisdom in the mess that was your life.

He watched you daily, your mischievous actions and cheeky smile. You were mortal, alluring in your frail beauty and sharp with your wit, like a rose with it's thorns. He was truly smitten, he'd found someone who was perfect, he'd found his starlight.

You worked as a journalist for the New York Times, a job that came with a lot of perks, one of those being your interview with the Avengers in their tower. An interview that was to occur today. You were nervous to meet them, after the events of the attack on New York you had a respect for them, and a slight bias towards their newest arrival and New York's attacker.

Upon your arrival to the building you were greeted by a woman in a black business suit, her ginger hair put up in a neat bun and her outfit pressed to perfection. You recognised her immediately as Pepper Potts, the lover of Tony Stark.
"Good evening Ms (L/n) my name-" You interrupted her with a smile and a extended hand,
"Is Ms Pepper Potts, it's a pleasure." She took your hand and shook it, a smile edging it's way onto her features.
"Well, since there seems to be no need for introductions how about I show you around the tower?" You took her offer quickly, excited to see the inner-workings of the infamous Stark Tower.

Pepper showed you everything, explaining each sectors role in the cohesive running of Stark Industries. You ate up everyone of her words, fascinated by how everything was connected in Stark Industries, like it was a well oiled machine. As you reached the top floor Pepper stopped you for a second, her hand clasped onto yours for a second.
"Through these doors is the main quarters for the Avengers, I'd like to ask you to be respectful towards them, though I know you will." She gave you a smile and squeezed your hand, "I can't wait to see you again." With those words she was gone and you didn't have a chance to ask her what she had meant.

Walking through the doors you were greeted by the large chest of Captain America, your face pushed against it.
"Oh, my apologies Ma'am! You must be the journalist that Tony told us about." You pulled away, your face alight with your embarrassment.
"Uh, yeah. That's me, I'm (Y/n), (Y/n) (L/n)." You extended your hand, an awkward smile placed on your lips. He took your hand and gave it a soft kiss, a smile gracing his handsome features.
"Well, you know me already Ma'am. Anyway, the rest of the team is in the conference room, I'll show you the way." He continued holding your hand, leading you towards the rest of earth's greatest defenders.

(Loki's P.O.V)

'Earth's greatest defenders.' If someone had told Loki six months ago that he'd be in a room talking civilly with them he'd have laughed in their face. It was a strange lot of events that led to Loki teaming up with them, one of those being his exile from Asgard and his meeting with Nick Fury upon his arrival on Midgard.  The only choice he had was to be 'rehabilitated' or become a prisoner for the foreseen future. He was no idiot, he knew which choice was better.

At first he had planned on betraying them all, seeing if he could break them apart from the inside, but alas his plans failed. Each attempt making no progress and the teams' contempt for him growing exponentially with each of his attacks. It came to a point of conflict when they had locked him in the sub-levels of the tower, treating him like a misbehaving child until he began to understand the impact of his actions and eventually he opened up to them. Slowly, but surely he had formed a bond that was strange, but not unwelcome.Though he was still cold at points, that was unavoidable.

So here he sat, waiting for this 'journalist' to arrive and ask the group of supers questions for public entertainment, how 'fun'. Steven had left the room a while ago, claiming that he was going to search for their interrogator, but he had been gone for almost thirty minutes and Loki had began to think that he'd used it as an excuse to get away from this interview nonsense. He wished he had too at this point.

That was until he heard a voice, one that sounded like a distant memory. A voice that he'd dreamt of times before. When the door opened and there she stood he was shocked to his core, she was real and right in front of him. She was tangible, something he could touch and hold unlike the visions he had had of her.

She was speaking, but he wasn't listening. He was too enamoured with her physically, her hair that framed her face perfectly, her eyes that seemed so inviting, her body which was tempting to say the least. She was real. And she was staring straight at him.
"-Loki? Brother? My apologies Lady (Y/n), but he usually isn't-"
"It's you." Thor was interrupted by the breathless words of the raven haired god, his eyes focused directly onto you. The look in his eyes was that of a man who had just won the jackpot, but he was completely focused on you.
"Me? What about me?" You stepped forward, through the door and into the room that was full of high powered hero's. "We've never met." You spoke with strength, though your eyes conveyed your growing confusion.
"Five years ago you prayed to a god for guidance, searching for someone to hear you and reach out. I heard you all those years ago and have asked a friend of mine to watch over you ever since that day. You're the starlight, the one thing I saw in the darkness of these realms. It's a pleasure to finally be in your presence."

And for the first time in his life, Loki, the all powerful god that he is, bowed before you for a second.

You were shocked to say the least, the man that had destroyed your home had just bowed before you, he had just confessed his somewhat strange 'attraction' to you. It was a huge moment.
"I-Uh... Loki, I'm sorry, but we've never met. This is quite a strange situation for me if I'm honest, I don't have a clue what to do in a situation such as this." He stood before you, his stature towering over yours, but no sign of a threat coming from him.
"Oh! Yes, I know you, but the only thing you know me for is..." he cleared his throat and looked shameful for a second before composing himself again. "I believe I should introduce myself properly, perhaps over a meal?" He gave you a smile, one that was simply hard to resist.
"How about after the interview, hmm? Unfortunately I have a job to do." He agreed swiftly to your arrangement, before taking his seat once again.

"So, shall we begin?"

----Timey Wimey skip----

The interview went well, after the awkward nature that Loki had brought upon the group, you had slowly eased everyone into  comfortable discussions about their lives, their goals and how things worked with them. Everyone had been amazing and you had an absolute ball with them and their antics, the laughter was never sparse in the tower. After you had concluded the interview Tony had approached you, offering you a position as his head of media affairs, something you were tempted by and decided to get back to him on.

The next task you would have to conquer would be Loki and his abrupt proposal of a date, one that you weren't against, but were completely taken by surprise by. Eventually you had spoken to him and organised a proper day to meet and to get to know each other for once.

In the months that followed you began working with Pepper and Tony, finally taking up his offer on working with him. As per you boyfriend, Loki's, request. This meant you spent more time at the tower, which meant more time for him and that was good in his books.

You both continue to write your story, each day spent together better than the last. Yes, there were hiccups, but everyone has them. The moral is, you were happy and so was he.

All because of a simple prayer and a little starlight.

The rest is still to be written...
