infodealer this might be up your alley, lmk what ya think. ^^

I'm currently still working on all the one shot requests, don't worry. I just had an idea and needed to write it out immediately.

WARNING: Angst ahead...

The sounds of the dead surrounded us, it was fucking deafening. We were overrun by them. We were safe but for how fucking long? This shitty worn down house has areas we had patched up over the years, still not as well as we could have even given the circumstances. Will we starve first? We ran out of supplies yesterday. Will they break through? The question wasn't if, it was when and how we died. “There's no mother fuckin way I'll let myself become one of those godforsaken things!’’ My boyfriend, Eijiro, held the last bullet before loading it.

Sitting on the roof with Ei sprawled across my lap, the several acres of barren farmland free from any of them. We watch as the sky stained orange and red, the sun barely visible anymore. Atop the hill, to the north, about a mile off from us, I barely spotted one of them limping it's way to the house. It's entrails fell out of it's abdomen, trailing behind it. Normally we would take turns distracting it while the other takes a knife to its rotted skull.

I guess living in peace, away from the constant danger for the past, two? Yeah, two years, roughly. Being quiet was necessary. Any noise could attract more and they don't give up easily.

Loading a round in the chamber, Ei shot up from his position, “Are you fuckin serious?”
“Ei, calm down. It's just one of those fuckers. I gotta work on my aim anyway. Can't be getting rusty”
“What if there's a horde of them nearby? What if they hear ya?”
“It's just one, love…” Taking aim, the fucker fell most of the way down the hill and was much closer now.

*BANG*

“I practically hit ‘it’ right between the eyes, you should praise….” My blood ran cold at the look in Ei's eyes. I knew. I already knew. I fucked up.

Turning around to see how bad the situation is and fuck FUCK FUCK! the the hill was swarming with them. The dead were tripping over each other but gaining ground all the same. Grabbing my shoulder, Ei shook me out of my trance. “Kat, we have to go!”

We shimmied down the side of the house faster than we ever had, cutting my leg on a rusty broken pipe on the way down. “Fuck!” Limping into the back door, Ei was frantically shoving clothes, guns, and ammo into the ratty backpacks. “Get as much food as you can, gotta bug-out babe.” Of course he noticed my limp and the crimson pooling at my feet from my outer thigh. I leaned onto the wall trying to catch my breath, “Just a broken pipe, love. I haven't been bitten.” Letting out a breath of relief, Ei bit his bottom lip, “We can't leave, can we?” I couldn't look him in the eye, the sounds of the dead getting closer with every passing second. “I'm sorry…” Wrapping his arms around my neck, we heard the first ‘thud’ of them walk into the side of the house. One; manageable. The hundreds, possibly thousands; devastating.

My wound wasn't as bad as initially thought but I would have definitely slowed us down significantly. Without antibiotics my careless wound could become infected and I clearly haven't had a tetanus vaccine in the last few years, since this world went to shit.

For, fuck.....how many days now? Four. For four days we tried shooting down as many as possible from the windows on the second story but the fuckers were never ending, our stockpile of ammo, gone.

The house creaked and groaned from the constant pressure outside, barely sleeping, just huddled together in our bed.

We're down to our last bullet now, the deafening sound of thousands of the dead, ring in our ears. My leg had gotten worse and I doubt that I would make it...even if we could ride out the horde.

*KaCHA*

With our last bullet loaded, we look into each others eyes one last time, our lips met, the salt from our tears mixed with our saliva.

Pressing our foreheads together, Ei's shaking hand held out the hand gun. “I can't do it, Kat…” With trembling hands of my own, I took it from him, the burden with it. The cold metal burned in my hand, knowing what we were about to do. Slinging my arm around his neck, pulling him into a hug. Our heads pressed against one another.

*BANG*
