“I’m breaking up with you.” He said calmly. No. No. I refuse to believe this. This can’t be happening. What did I do wrong?
“Why?” I managed to say.
“I just don’t love you anymore. Heck, I don’t even think I even loved you in the first place.” He said as if his words weren’t hurting me. And he just walked away. Just like that.
Many people passed by and saw the ‘little’ confrontation. Some of them gave me sympathetic glances while the rest had smug grins on their faces. Besides, I am just a commoner dating one of the most popular kids in school. Your welcome ladies, Christian Dorantes is now free and single and most especially, ready to mingle.
I was already depressed and the people around was seriously not helping at all. With all the stares that I got, I’m surprised I haven’t melted yet. They would talk about Christian and I’s breakup like I wasn’t there standing in front of them. I slowly made my way to my next class. It went on really, really slow. Plus, somebody keeps on throwing crumpled paper at me who resulted to me having to stay until I cleaned up the pile of papers.
After class, it was already my free period. I slowly went to the common room, hoping that it would help me relax. But I was so wrong.
I heard moans. Then I heard his name. I know that I have no right to intrude but curiosity got the best of me. Slowly, I opened the door and I saw my worst nightmare come to life.
On the couch was Christian and Merida. And they were making out like their life depended on it. Like there were no other people in the world besides the two of them. I wanted to scream at them. I wanted to slap them. I couldn’t believe it. My ex-boyfriend replaced me for my best friend. No wonder I hadn’t heard a thing from her since the breakup.
I felt so hurt because of the betrayal and angry at me because I let them enter my life and then ruined me from the inside. I slammed the door and I heard that the moaning stopped. I couldn’t stay here much longer. I don’t want them to see that I’m really affected. I ran towards the bathroom. Cliché, I know. But my mind wasn’t really functioning well at the moment.
And that’s when I promised to myself that I wouldn’t let anyone break the walls that am going to build.
It had been a year since that happened. A year since I truly matured. But I changed over the year. Back then, I was just a clumsy, naïve, gullible, innocent and hormonal kid who got caught up in the middle of her daydream. It had been a year since people started calling me ‘the heartless princess’. I gained popularity but not in the good way. If you know what I mean. Ever since that day, Merida tried to talk to me, but I would always flip her off. Eventually, she realized that I wasn’t going to talk to her ever again and started dating Christian. And now they’re the golden couple of Peterson High. Of course, it was already expected. Who doesn’t like the head cheerleader and the start quarterback getting together? Well, obviously, me.
Today is the first day of school and I’m planning to make a ‘little’ change. Ever since Merida left me for Christian, Brandy, my other best friend, and I became much closer. She’s the only exception to my promise to self.
Now, she’s helping me in choosing what to wear for the first day of school.
“You know what. You should really stop with all these baggy shirts. It doesn’t suit you. Flaunt your stuff. Girls will kill to have curves like you and boys will be drooling in no time.” She said sassily. Let’s just say that Brandy is my eyes and ears when it comes to school gossips and whatnots. When I was about to get my pants, she slapped my hand and gave me shorts instead. “Wear this. Better make a good impression on the newbies.” I just laughed because she’s always like that.
When we entered school, like she said, we (more like I) got a hell lot of wolf-whistles. I winked in response. Boys never do change. Out of nowhere, somebody decided to ruin my good mood.
“Here comes the twin bitches.” I turned around and glared at Merida. Ever since we stopped being friends, we started being enemies instead. I just looked at her from head to toe, rolled my eyes and smirked. Plus, threw an obviously fake smile to get a better reaction.
“Well, at least I’m not a backstabbing bitch like you.” I never gave her the chance to reply because Brandy pulled me before I could slap Merida.
I don’t really mind being called twins with Brandy because she’s like a sister to me and we look very similar with each other. Twins separated by birth, some would say. Blond hair and green eyes. The only thing different about us is the color of the tips of our hair. I dyed mine blue while she dyed hers red.
Unfortunately, Brandy and I had to go to our separate ways because we don’t have the same schedule. When I was about to go to my next class, somebody bumped into me, causing all of my things to fall. The girl hastily dropped to her knees and started picking up my things.
“No need to do that. I have hands. Two of them, actually.” I told her jokingly, but I could still see in her eyes that she doesn’t trust. I feel like I’m looking at my old self. I should be really careful in choosing who I trust. “Hey, there’s no need to be scared of me. I don’t bite.” She smiled but she doesn’t look really convinced. “Trust me on this.”
“I’ll try.” She whispered, stood up and gave me back my things. “Anyway, what’s your first period?” She asked nervously. I chuckled at her nervousness.
“Science. You?”
She beamed at my response, ”Same here!”
Luckily, I came to school earlier than I usually do. On our way to class, we were chatting non-stop. I learned that she was very clumsy, talkative and annoying-in a good way. Her name is Linda (her nickname is Lenny). She never gave me a chance to talk (that how talkative and annoying she is). But I didn’t mind. Actually, I kinda enjoyed being in her company. I think I can trust her.
When we entered the classroom, we sat down by each other and decided to listen to the others’ conversation.
“Did you see that?”
“OMG! I totally did!”
“Heartless Princess finally has a new friend! Maybe she isn’t that heartless.” And they laughed at her ‘humorous’ joke. Dehm those biatches. I should really write a letter to karma.
Dear Karma,
You missed those dumb bimbos over there, together with the guy who broke my heart and the girl who I thought was my friend.
Trust me, karma never fails to impress me.

“Hey guys!” One of the popular chicks shrieked at the rest of her clique. “I bring good news to all of you! Have you seen the new guy?”
“Oooh. New guy. Fresh meat.”
“OMG! That guy?! Like yeah, who hasn’t?”
“He’s so sizzling hot!”
“I. Know. Right.”
Then suddenly, Ma’am Lopez entered the room with an unfamiliar face. Cue all of the girls fangirling over him. I had to cover my ears because I don’t want my eardrums to explode.
“AHHHH!!! ITS HIM! ITS REALLY HIM!” I sighed. This is going to be a very long day.
