We're young and in love, heart attacks waiting to happenSo come a little closer, tell me those three little words.

~William~

As much as the distance it put between me and the love of my life growing up in California was awesome. I had good friends, I did well in school and the places to go were so much better. Despite my bad relationship with my mum and her family in America there was always something new to explore. That was what I'd missed most in the last year since I moved back so Surrey. I had told Nadia all my stories there was always new ones, she was the reason we were now on a plane to California. Asleep in my arms she looked so peaceful, I could have stared at her forever but if I did I'd never get to hear her speak. We'd been together a year now, well our first anniversary was tomorrow. I remember her dad speaking to me privately after we'd told them we were dating, amazingly it hadn't been that awkward.

***Flashback***

"Hey, how's it going?"  Dan asks sitting on the sofa beside me. "Good, I just hope she's home soon," I sigh, I hadn't seen her for a few days and it was killing me. "You really love her don't you? You always have since you first saw her," he smiles. "Dan I love her so much it hurts, you have no idea how hard it was the past five years," I told him truthfully. I never called Dan 'Uncle Dan' anymore, I didn't want people to  think it my relationship with Nadia was wrong. "Good that means you wont hurt her and believe me I know how hard it is," Dan frowned he looked as if he was remembering something bad. "I would never hurt your daughter, she's everything to me! How do you know? If you don't mind my asking," I wondered trying not to pry.

"You never saw Nadia until you were five but you saw me a lot, did you never wonder why?" He asked. In truth I had always wondered why I'd never met Nadia until then, I'd just never asked. "You see Kate and I were together a year before we spilt up, as much as we didn't want to leave each other it was for the best even though I didn't see that at the time. A few weeks after Kate found out she was having Nadia, she tried to tell me but I didn't listen. I've known you since the day you were born but I've known my daughter five years less, it kills me to know that I missed out on her growing up. When I found her again I found Nadia too, we fell back in love, we bought a house, had Xav and got married." Dan continued his story. "Wow, I never knew that," I said amazed, I was glad I had someone to talk about this with. "Yeah but bottom line is never let her go again or those five years apart will be worthless, I treasure Kate everyday. You were always meant to be with Nadia," Dan smiled giving me a bro hug. "Thanks Dan, there's no way I could ever let her go again. "Well that was deep, want a beer?" Dan offered and I nodded, I had the best father in law you could ask for.

***End of Flashback***

The plane landed safely and the morning California sun was shooting through the windows as I tried to wake up Nadia, she was always difficult to wake. "C'mon baby we're here," I grinned as I gently nudged her awake. "Mmmmphhh," she murmered sleepily into my chest. After five minutes she managed to pull herself from the land of dreams, "Whoa it's hot," she said as we stepped out of the plane and into the glorious sunshine. "Yup, you should have worn cooler clothes," I stated as I took in what she was wearing again, leggings and a baggy t-shirt which I was pretty sure was mine. Of course I had noticed what she was wearing when she got on the plane but she'd changed her top so she could sleep. "I wanted to be comfortable," she pouted. Once inside the airport it was a lot cooler, "Where do we get our bags?" She asked cuddling into my side. "Um, that way I think," I said and follow the rest of the people from our flight. Once we had collected our bags and Nadia had been warned by security not to surf on the conveyor belt. I had been in creases as she had a stand off with the security guard, "I have been to many airports and not once have I been stopped, neither have my uncles! If it's good enough for Josh Franceschi, it's good enough for me!" She  had scowled at the security guy. "Miss you're going to have to get down from there otherwise I will put you on the next flight back to where you came from," The guard had shouted making her quickly get down.
