It's been 2 days since we first said those words to each other. And today was her birthday. My plan was in place, everything was good to go.

Knocking on her apartment door, I waited in anticipation, excited to give her my present. She opened the door and threw herself into my arms. "Happy birthday!" I said as I wrapped my arms around her waist.

"Thank you." She giggled before kissing me. "Come in, Harry's cooking breakfast."

I followed her through the door, closing it behind me. The smell of bacon filled the apartment, and there were birthday cards displayed on the coffee table. A few small presents were on the table too, unopened.

"Happy Birthday, Harry." I said, almost forgetting they were twins.

"Thanks mate!" Harry called back from the kitchen as he flipped pancakes into the air.

Taking the envelope from my pocket, I placed it on the table beside the other unopened things.

"What's that?" Liv asked, eyebrows raised.

I shrugged. "Have to wait and see."

Harry chuckled to himself from the kitchen area.

"Harry, don't tell me you've known what my present is the whole time and not told me." She said.

"Okay, I won't tell you." Harry replied, making me laugh, resulting in Liv throwing me a death glare.

The three of us chatted over breakfast. Harry told me an embarrassing story about their 6th birthday when she fell and broke her arm subsequently missing the firework display they were meant to go and see.

In a bid for revenge, Liv told me about their 18th birthday when Harry chundered and passed out in the first hour. I told Harry about Liv after the party the other day and she threw part of a pancake at me while Harry laughed.

I cleaned up after breakfast to allow Liv and Harry to open their presents. As I washed up, I realised how nervous I was about my present for Liv. What if she didn't like it? Part of me hoped she would open my present while I was still washing so I didn't have to see her reaction.

"Hurry up, Mitch! I wanna open your present." Liv called from the living room.

"2 secs." I said back, placing the last dish on the draining board and removing the washing up gloves I was wearing.

Making my way out of the kitchen, I plopped myself down on the sofa next to Liv. In her hand she held the envelope I'd left on the table, her name scribbled on it in my messy handwriting.

Giggling, she opened the envelope and read the card I wrote:

Liv,

Happy birthday

I hope you have a good day and an even better night

That sounded better in my head and will make sense once you know what your present is

Mitch xxx

Liv laughed out loud as Harry took the card from her hand to see what was so funny. He laughed too, but at least he knew what her present was and so knew what I meant.

"So," Liv began. "What's my present?"

"Me." I grinned cheekily.

She smiled back. "I'll take it, I guess you'll do."

I opened my mouth in fake offence while reaching into my pocket and pulling out two concert tickets before handing them to her.

"Wow, you weren't kidding." She laughed. "I can't wait!" She squealed, throwing her arms around me.

"You like it right?" I asked, needing reassurance that my gift was satisfactory.

"I love it."
