Niko's POV
I slammed my locker shut, swung my backpack onto my back, and shoved my headphones that I had already set up music in, onto my head as fast as I could once I saw Andrew turn the corner towards my direction.
I started to walk in the opposite direction and then started to sprint once I saw there were no teachers, not caring about the cameras.
I couldn't handle Andrew right now. Not today.
I heard a comment that sounded like 'hey isn't that the weirdo Niko, you know your friend?'. I turned my head, but slowed to walking after turning another corner. I was far enough anyways, so they couldn't catch up.
The song switched and I couldn't help myself, I started muttering along. (This isn't just a weird thing people do in fanfiction, its a weird trait you pick up doing a bunch of stuff in Choir and Band)
I turned up the volume in my headphones, just catching myself singing 'Tsumari wa kokishin ni toraware teta nda' (Yellow). I also walked along to the beats. This was a weird habit I picked up after having to count the beats in our music in band and choir.
I felt the ground slightly vibrate and picked up my pace, looking back again. Andrew was coming towards me.
I slide one of the headphones slighly off my ear so I could hear what was going on. Instantly I was bombarded with everyone's voices.
'Really? Isn't jazz band tomorrow?'
'You have football practice till five? I thought we planned today.'
'Look at that loser, you should know headphones are out of date.'
'I think choir might have Circle the State With Song this thursday, who knows?'
'Mrs. Smith cancelled club today so I'll be able to come over.'
'No hoodies on while you are still in school!'
I moved my shoulder forward and looked forward to avoid running into people, and to avoid having people run into me. I was correct in that decision as a few seconds later a pair of freshmen with some sophmores chasing them barreled into the people in front of me.
"Sorry, sorry." One of them told everyone they bumped into. I instantly recognized them as the freshman-grade's troublemakers, Kaitlyn Marvens and Liam Smith.
Liam had transferred into 9th grade in the middle of the year and Kaitlyn and him automatically hit it off. Though, the next time I saw them, Kaitlyn had Liam smushed against the wall and was trying to kiss him.
After that, they became 'just friends', even though they acted like best friends still. Kaitlyn claimed it was for a video in drama club they were shooting, but Lindsay and Melissa doubted that.
I opened the door that had been oh--so--rudely closed in my face by the person in front of me. Kaitlyn doubled back and came to stand next to me after I tried to close the door in her face.
"What do you want?" I sighed as I climbed onto the bus.
"I'm just gonna sit with my friend since we ride the same bus." She replied, swinging to sit in the first seat on the bus.
"You know this is where the middle schoolers are supposed to sit, right?" I sat next to her.
"Yeah, but this has better vantage point of everyone on the bus." She got out about 10 rubber bands.
"What are you going-" I started to say before I got shot between the eyes with one of the rubber bands. I fell into the aisle, quickly getting back into the seat so some poor middle schooler could get through.
