"The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but building the new" -Socrates
I know now. I know what it means to be a half-blood. Too have the blood of the almighty Greek gods coursing through your veins; along with that of an ordinary human. To the naked eye, that would sound pretty great. To be blessed with powers beyond imagine, and yet, still be able to live a normal life. But even the best things in life tend to come with a price tag. Fighting. Fighting monsters so horrible you'll see them when you close your eyes to rest. If you get that far that is. Fighting everyday long and hard only to be told when it's over, you have to do it again. I thought I had it bad, but boy i'd take anything to have the old back. I'm Percy Jackson, and here is the end of my story.

I felt invincible. No matter the cause, we were going to win!
I heard Frank yelling orders to the roman cohorts as I sliced down another monster. "Repellere equites!"
The third and fourth cohorts smashed into a wall of centaurs in a terrifyingly neat fashion.I couldn't help but admire how leader like he sounded. The Romans needed a strong, focused praetor, and Frank could give them that. Technically I still held that title as well, but there can only be two praetors. Besides, even if they're a bit less organized and stoic, my home is here, with the Greeks at Camp Half Blood. The home Gaea couldn't take without a fight.
As if too put emphasis on that, a small explosion set of to my left. Sprinting away from the scene (and lots of dazed or downright exploded monsters) were the Stole brothers. Huge grins plastered on their faces as they bounced away like kids emerging from a candy store. Something told me the Hephaestus cabin didn't know the Hermes brothers were armed and explosive. But then again, they probably wouldn't mind the fact they'd done some monster damage. Desperate times call for desperate measures I suppose.
I sliced riptide is a series of wide arks, backing my way up Half blood hill. I was nearing the base pedestal of the Athena Parthenos when I spotted Annabeth.
Her and Piper were a whirlwind of blades and fresh fruit. (Yes, literally). The two girls were back to back, fighting in perfect unison. Annabeth looked pretty wicked with her new sword. Though she had fought with a knife most of her life , her technique was still close to perfect. The sword had been a gift from out giant friend Dameson.. Yet another reason to fight.
Wading through monsters, I slowly made my way towards the two girls. Before I could reach them, Piper's voice rang out. "DUCK!!"
I dropped to the ground without hesitation. A steaming roast chicken sailed over my head, smacking the Earthborn behind me right in the face. Good ol' Piper and her cornucopia of death. While the monster was dazed (I would be too if I got attacked by a flying poultry dish) I leapt forward sliced him into wet clay.
"Thanks" I gave the girls a half smirk. Piper opened her mouth to reply, but before she could the ground began to ripple. Half blood hill felt more like standing on the oceans surface (Trust me, I know what that feels like.) I could sense a cloud of dread settle over the demigod forces as the ground continued to pulse.
"AWAKE!" A earthly female voice erupted around them.
"Oh The feature guest finally arrived to party" I muttered under my breath. Atop the hill stood the grand lady herself- Gaea. If your wondering what she looked like, just imagine Mother Nature meets very angry, 20 foot tall PTA mom.
