I never considered my town to be small. It's not like your typical village where there's only one gas station and everyone knows everyone.
However my town isn't big either. There's no skyscrapers and the biggest shopping center is closing up. We have a road that leads to the bigger city, and that's pretty much it. The only "wow" factor we have is a giant rocket ship that is shaped in a well...weird...way...
Small town or not, I have difficulty living in it. Amongst all the people, I don't feel like I belong. Which is why I live in my own little world. Yes I know I sound crazy, but trust me I'm not...ish
In my world, when I look through the window I don't see the view i have on my pool, I see adventures and possibilities. When i step outside of my house I don't see only grass (well snow depends on the season), I see a field where I'll lay down on when coming back from wherever I was going that day.
It might be stupid and childish but at least in my world I get to be me.
Either it's a young adult who doesn't want to give up on their dreams and who isn't afraid to stand up for what they believe in. An openly bisexual person who just has a passion for nature. Or someone who struggles with depression and anxiety every day of their life.
In my world, I get to wake up and not have to put on a mask like I have to in the real world. I love my small town, and the world that it made me create.
