Indie had moved in to her apartment 9 months ago. Once she could afford rent without the aid of a roommate she moved out. Her old roommate Nancy was nice enough but they were just different people, it didn't work as well as it could have. So once she was promoted at work she got her own place, she was independent, always had been.

Henry on the other hand had lived in his apartment for 2 years, becoming good friends with the landlord to the point where he could pretty much do whatever he pleased with his place as long as he paid his rent every month.

The two may have lived across the hall from each other but they only ever spoke twice. the first time was a meeting at one of the very few residence meeting either of them ever went to. Indie had only gone to one the week she moved in and Henry went the same day to see the girl from across the hall.he had always thought she was pretty but had never really talked to her. Indie for some reason always assumed he had had a girlfriend so she never really thought of him as a option. The second time they had met was longer. Indie was trying to paint a few accents onto her teal colored walls but she ran out of black paint so she, on a rash decision decided to ask the guy next door.

Henry had been working on his latest art project when he heard a knock on the door.

"Hi, this may be a weird question but do you have any black paint you aren't using?" Was the first thing he heard as he opens the door, not even processin the words just looking down to find the brunette girl from across the hall.

He was suddenly aware of the long pause he had just caused,"I'm sorry can you repeat that?"

"Do you have any black paint?" she asked shyly.

Lucky for her Henry was an artist, wel wanting to be, so he had all the supplies imaginable.

"Do you want, canned, acrylic, spray paint, chalkboard, or watercolor?"

"Uh, just like canned would be fantastic." she was shocked at the amount of black paint this guy had.

He shut the door briefly to grab the paint from his supply closet. He back handing her the paint as well as a roller and a tray.

"I didn't know if you needed any extra of these so, here. you can keep that paint if there's any left." he smiled.

Indie was surprised at his hospitality and accepted his help with a "thank you" and a nod.

But that was about the peak of their communication. Prior communication anyway.
