Indie woke up abruptly a feeling in her gut telling her she was late. Thankfully, she wasn't late. She was SUPER late! She had to be on a date in 10 minuets. She sprang from her bed, hitting her head on her closet door frame on her way in, she changed quickly into a pair of maroon colored jeans with white blouse and a maroon scarf. she did her making putting her hair in a top not adding her rounded sunglasses. she took one last look before grabbing her black messenger bag and running out the door. She saw that the elevator door was open an shouted to the tenant inside.
"Please hold the door!" she ran down the hall and saw a mans hand move in between the two doors of the elevator.
She finally reached the metal box and saw the guy across the hall inside. Indie searched her mind for his name. He was dressed in a pair of black skinny jeans with a large black an white sweatshirt. But what was his name? Harvey.....Hank....Harry?
She stepped inside seeing that the ground floor button was already illuminated. She looked at him, just about to cross the line into staring. His dark hair flopped in front of his face, usually it was slicked back but not today. His dark eyes seems cloudy. Indie assumed he had just woken up.
"Thanks." she smiled, "I'm Indie by the way."
"I know." His voice was rough from sleep,"you live across the hall."
"That makes me feel worse for not remembering your name...."
He chuckled softly,"Henry."
"Nice to meet you."
"Again." he added.
"Right." she nodded.
Indie looked up watching the orange lit numbers change. Henry looked at her just about to cross the line into staring. he long brown hair was pulled up into a neat bun. Her large green eyes looked upwards as they moved down.
Suddenly the elevator dropped, jostling the two. So much so that Indie was knocked into the wall hitting her head on the side. Henry white knuckled the hand rail trying not to fall himself. He slowly lowered himself to sit on the ground with his back against the wall. And just as quickly as it had started, it stopped. The orange numbers were no longer actually characters, just little incoherent lines.
Henry turned to see Indie wiring herself up to a sitting position, one hand clutched the side of her head.
"Are you okay?", he asks even though the answer seemed obvious.
"I don't know. Are you?", she asked back.
Henry took a moment to look himself over,"Yeah, I think so."
Indie pulled her hair out of the bun letting the messy bed head waves fall down her back, she felt around her head.
"Henry?" she looked over at him," c-could you look and see if you see a bump or blood or anything?"
He scooted towards her,"Yeah no problem."
Henry moved his hands through her dark hair looking for anything that would indicated damage. He came across a little circle, just about the size of an M&M where no hair grew.
"Uh, you have a little spot back here..."he more asked than told her.
"Oh! That's a birthmark..." she sounded kind of embarassed.
"Oh..its uh nice."he said continuing to feel around.
Indie winced in pain as his fingers moved over a bump right on the side of her head."Sorry...."
"Well, I guess that answer that question." She laughed, "Is it bleeding?"
Henry moved his hand more looking at his finger tips, nothing," no ma'am. no blood."
"Thanks." she told him.
"No problem."
Indie helped herself up by pulling on the hand rail for support," I-I can't tell if we're moving or not..."
"We're not." Henry answered.
Indie sighed," shoulda taken the stairs....."
