Mordecai pov

I woke up to see rigby slowly inching the door to our room open.
I felt relief wash over me cause honestly I was getting a little worried. He usually never stays out this late, it's practically morning and getting sleep is normally a big deal to him. I decide to let him know I'm awake by sitting up.

"Hey, where you been" I ask

"Nowhere." He says in a flat tone while avoiding my gaze.

Yup he's mad and unfortunately I know he has every right to be.
I sigh " look dude I'm sorry I left you hanging today but at least I got you something so don't be too mad.'

He looks at me with curiosity written all over his face
"What'd you get?" He asked

" Um, actually I don't know, I never opened it up. I left it on your trampoline. "

Rigby glanced towards his corner of the room
"Dude that looks like a box of tissues. It better not be tissues"

"It's not I swear. I won it at one of the carnival games"

Rigby makes his way over to where I left the black box meanwhile i watched from my bed and hoped what I got could pass as a gift.

(authors note: Well I suck at writing and have no idea what I was thinking when I wrote this part but I was going for the gift being something really lame or insensitive but I don't know what to write without being cringier than it already is. Keep that in mind when you read the next part.  It's literally been a year and I couldn't think of anything better than this conversation so I'm giving up, and willingly letting cringe content go out into the world)

"Dude, are you being serious??" He said while staring at whatever was in the box.

"What do you mean?" I asked slowly, already feeling like I would've been better off just bringing nothing from the tone of his voice.

"It's a bunch of stuff for chicks.  Perfume, makeup, nail polish and....is this a thong?" He asks while proceeding to pull out what is indeed a thong.

"Um..." I can't think of anything to say.  The guy at the park must've thought the gift was for Margaret.  ,

"No need, you were with Margaret and I know she's top priority to you, am I right? " even though he said it with indifference I could tell he was disappointed .

"Well yeah, but your still my best friend. I know I messed up today but at least I tried to make up for it, how was I supposed to know I played for a scam gift?"

Rigby rolls his eyes "Well it doesn't matter anyway. While you where out, sucking at life, I scored this baby!"
He pulls out a game station box that I somehow never realized was in the room.  I feel my eyes turn into saucers and my jaw drops.

" What?! How did you get this?? those things cost more than our lives! " I exclaim

"One of the new arcade games gave me way too many tickets. personally I think it was a system error because it was like they set it on baby mode or something." He says.

" no game gives that many tickets Rigby and if it did you'd need a lot of money to get them, which I know you don't have"

"Well it happened, are you trying to say I stole it or something?" He says defensively

"Of course not, it's just... I didn't think they'd be that easy to get."

"Whatever, if you want a chance to play on it then I expect a better gift tomorrow...preferably a million dollars." Rigby says before carrying the console to his trampoline and laying down next to it.
