Okay, so here it is. As promised, here it is: the Inamorata/Immortality fanfic competiton. I'm going to make a list of a few things. Let's start with the ground rules.
Ground Rules:
1. You may post your fanfic on Wattpad (obviously that's where you're going to post it), but you must state EXPLICITLY that this is a fanfiction of Inamorata or Immortality. If you try to pass of any of my characters as your own, or try to pretend my story is yours by copying my work and changing names and places but keeping the story line, ideas, characters, etc. the same, I will be very peeved. Very peeved indeed.
2. In writing about Inamorata, you're probably going to be dealing with themes of rape, abuse, etc. Please treat these things with caution. Do not glorify them in your writing (not that I would expect you to - though once someone did write a fanfic of Inamorata that involved glorification of rape and it got reported and taken down from Wattpad).
3. Rate your story accordingly. If you write a fluffy story involving domestic bliss between Nightingale and Robin, feel free to rate it G for general audiences. If, on the other hand, you write a gloriously smutty fic about Nightingale and David having hot sex, you might want to rate it R. Let's keep things appropriate for certain age groups, yes?
4. If you sign up to write a fic, please write one! I can only run this competition if there are enough people interested and if people sign up and then back out leaving me with one or two people, it's not much of a competition.
Guidelines
1. I would recommend you try writing a short story or a one-shot. This is only a recommendation - if you feel like writing something longer, go for it. But I would say that an appropriate length to try at first would be shorter as opposed to longer.
2. Any character is fair game to write about. Want to write an entire story about Clarence? Knock yourself out.
3. Try wherever you can to make characterization as close to the original as possible. This keeps things within the realm of fanfiction. If you want to ask me questions about this, I would welcome them! Shoot me a question if you wonder what a character would do in a certain situation.
4. Any and all settings or AUs are welcomed. If you want to explore the idea of a one-shot in which Nightingale and her sisters are ladies in a medieval society? I would love to read that.
5. Any pairings are allowed. I warn you in advance: I am predisposed to like creative pairings.
Prizes
There will be prizes for first place, second place, and third place. Everyone who submits a fic can be assured, however, that I will read it in detail and leave them a message for taking the time to write something for the competition. Also, every Inamorata fanfic will go into a reading list on my profile so everyone who wants to see it can enjoy it! But here are the prizes for the top three:
1st Place: I will dedicate any chapter of Inamorata or Immortality to this user (provided it is not already dedicated to someone else) will follow this user, critique any two stories the user wants me to read, and promote both the user and one of their stories to to 12k+ followers.
2nd Place: I will follow this user, I will critique one story this user wants me to read, and promote the user to 12k+ followers.
3rd Place: I will follow this user, and critique one story this user wants me to read.
I will also promote users based on each of the following criteria:
Best Characterization
Best Pairing
Best AU (provided at least two people write AUs!)
Are these good enough prizes? Any other suggestions for prizes? Let me know!
How to Sign Up
1. In the comments section, leave a comment stating that you would like to write a fic.
2. That's it. That's how you sign up.
Deadlines
Ah, yes. The dreaded deadlines. You can submit your work by posting it and sending me a PM to say that you have done so. I will not be checking the Inamorata tag to see if stories have been posted. You've got to let me know or I won't find it!
September 1st - Submissions Begin
September 30th - Submissions Close
October 6th - Winners Announced
I think that's it for information you need to know! Get writing and have fun! I look forward to reading your work!
