I can't believe what I'm hearing. No one can see me or hear me. So why can I hear a voice saying my name? I rub tears away from my eyes and look up to a figure standing over me. I recognize her immediately. Ellie, a popular girl who spends her free time running. Orla and I were always seeing her on the field. "I thought you were dead!!" She exclaims, "yet here you are!!".
"Well... I-I am dead" I stutter.
She takes a step back as her eyes widen. "I'm going crazy."
"No, you're not", I say in a calm voice, "I'm real, just... not alive"
"H-how...", she manages to get out of her mouth.
"I'm a spirit. A ghost. According to some research I did at the library." She stares at me in awe.
"But... So... Like... You're actually Olive?"
"Yes. It's me."
She pauses as she takes all the new information in."Okay." Ellie says with some disbelief in her words. "Why were you crying then?" She says as her voice turns soft.
"It's just... seeing Orla like this. I was everything to her and she was everything to me. Now she thinks I'm dead."
"Wait, you're saying she doesn't know about you being here, right now?"
"Yeah. So far it seems you're the only person who can actually see and hear me."
She hesitates. "Why me?" She queries.
"I have no clue, we have nothing in common and I've only met you, like, once before."
"I've got to admit, this is the first time I've heard you speak."
"Thinking about it, I've just told a stranger, who's never heard me speak, something I never will be able to tell anyone else. This is the most I've said to anyone, except Orla, for years." I say as I burst into tears again.
