Knock

Knock

The headmaster of Theradin academy looked up to greet her secretary.

"There is a girl on the phone ma'am. She says she is a graduate, but I checked our records and she has not attended a single class here!"

The headmaster smiled to herself, ignoring her secretary's irritated expression.

"Shall I block the number ma'am? We're always getting such irritating calls! How could such a commoner even think of getting leeway into our school? Hmph!"

"That is enough David. Put her on my line. I would like to speak with the girl. Please refer any future messages from the same source directly to me."

The arrogant secretary immediately snapped his mouth shut once he heard the headmaster's reply. Who was this girl? To be able to gain admission into Theradin was rare enough, but to hold the interest of the headmaster herself?

Recoiling from the shame of his earlier actions, David exited the room.

"Good evening, Miss Dos. I expected a call from you earlier."

"Sorry headmaster! I've been a bit busy with work. . ." was the sheepish reply the older woman received.

The headmaster smiled to herself. Even at her aptitude this girl still acted like an immature child.

"What can I do for you today Miss Dos?"

"Well. . ."

As she listened to the Via's request, the headmaster was reminded of her previous self. After graduating early from Theradin herself, although only a year early, she opened an primary school in a developing country. Using her family's inheritance, she provided a basic education to thousands of children at that time, even promoting the ones with scholarly ambitions to become students at Theradin.

Despite her success, when the headmaster was a student at Theradin, she was looked down upon by the other students for her desire to help others below her and envied for her capabilities. She did, however, receive much support from her family and an older professor that was retired. Due to the lasting impact her relationship with her professor had on her, the headmaster was motivated to help Via in the same way.

"Therefore you want to ask if I have any helpful connections?"

"Yes! Exactly! Ideally someone high up that could offer me a challenging, growth oriented position."

"How do you feel about Leo Lofter? I can contact him about an interview with you and send the information in to you."

"Perfect! Thank you so much headmaster."

"Make sure to show him your best Miss Dos." Although her expression remained neutral, the headmaster's gaze softened upon hearing the girl's excitement.

. . .

"So? How did it go?"

"Did the old woman kick you out?"

"I heard that she expelled a student for falling asleep during class one time!"

"Oh yeah! And after that the poor girl was never accepted into another school and she eventually ended up being disowned by her family!" Asa and Maix crowded around Via as she sat down at her desk, starting her computer.

"No . . . she was really polite and helpful." She gave her brothers a confused look.

". . ." Asa and Maix looked at each other and back at their sister in envy. The headmaster never paid them much attention when they were in school. Perhaps she did scold them more than usual, claiming that their sister could do much better in a grandmotherly manner, but she was never helpful to them! Alas, they could not help being thankful for the strict old woman as she did their sister a great favor.

"Leo Lofter! The Leo Lofter? No way! Can we come with you?" The boys were shocked again after hearing of the man the headmaster recommended Via to work for.

Via nodded, and pushed the boys away from her computer screen where she was checking her messages.

"He just emailed me. Here, I'll read it to you." The boys' eyes widened as they realized that their sister. Their silly, clever sister was going to meet Leo Lofter.

Although he was born to an average middle class family, Leo Lofter's skills were difficult to mask. Thus, he was quickly accepted into several prestigious schools at an early age. However, after competing primary school, Lofter decided to drop out. He found the traditional education system to be too stifling and decided to carve his own path. From there, he developed a new website. This website allowed people to buy and sell products as companies for individual sellers. It became known as The Loft, and Lofter became one of the world's most successful businessmen.

For Via, gaining a foothold in The Loft could get her farther an years of freelance work. Her goal of course, was not to become an investor. She was too young. Instead, she hoped Lofter would hire her to work for the technology department in The Loft, and perhaps sponsor some of her work.

"Sis you have to take me with you!" Via turned to see Asa pleading with her.

"Why? So you can gawk at how large his company is? I'll only take you with me if you have something to offer to me." Via gave her twin a challenging stare.

"Fine, I'll show him my site. Happy?"

Via nodded in satisfaction. She knew this unambitious brother of hers could never get anyway without an extra push, despite his extraordinary culinary skills, and so took the first opportunity she had to expose his work. For the past few years, Asa build a large fan base online with his original recipes and cooking videos. Not only were older view captivated with the unique and delicious dishes, but young viewers were also drawn in. In fact, had he not been unwilling to film his face in the videos, Via knew that he would have doubled his fan base just due to his appearance.

"Let's go then." Via turned off her computer and grabbed her laptop.

"Now?"

"Yes, we should't keep Leo Lofter waiting, right?"

"What? He's waiting for us? How could you keep him waiting Sis! Let's go then!"

Maix gave Via a helpless look as they both watched Asa scrambling to leave.

Slam!

The door shut loudly as Asa ran out the door with Via quickly following him.

"Who's going to make dinner now?" Maix stared at the door.
