Dan's p.o.v

It was beautiful today. The sky was a heartless gray that would end up crying mid afternoon. The green pine trees waved at me as I walked down the emptied sidewalk and to my apartment complex.
Stephen, Jay, and Hosuh were visiting for a bit. They were supposed to head back to their own homes Sunday morning. I couldn't help but feel sorrow fill my chest at the thought of them leaving but I couldn't hold them back.

The heavy smell of rain filled my nose.

"Ah!", I heard a woman cry out before looking up at the clouds.

And little by little, only by one, I could hear people scream and cry. The sounds of my bulky shoes hitting the cement floor traced after me. My heartbeat echoed in my head as my heart pounded in my chest. I cried in pain as the acid hit my hand. Thousands of holes were scattered across my umbrella due to the acid rain.

I practically jumped into the complex, quickly slamming the door shut behind me. My tarnished umbrella laid down in front of me. The remaining drops of rain slid to the floor, eating away at the carpet.

"Dan," I looked up at my frightened friends, "what's going on?"
