I awoke when I heard a crash coming from the kitchen. It was either Rachel, Mom, or maybe Sandy. I noticed my pride flag was hanging by only three pegs in the ceiling, so I lazily got out of bed. It was too early for this. I stood up on my bed, trying to grasp the rainbow flag, only being able to skim it with the tips of my fingers. I'm not that short, though. Mom and Rachel has just moved into a house and I was with them, Dad, and Ray until I moved out, so I just had a mattress, and I couldn't reach the ceiling.
"Mom!!" I was hoping Rachel wouldn't come. Things are still kinda awkward between us. Someone had cracked the door open, and the head of Rachel peeped behind it.
"Hey," she spoke with caution in her words. "Ilene is out getting groceries." At 10:00? "We were out of milk and she was desperate to make pancakes for you." For me? I was a bit confused.
"Why just for me? Why not Sandy too?"
"Dude, have you seen your calendar yet?" I took out my phone and saw the date, July 28th." It was Lance from Voltron's Birthday? Wait..
"It's my birthday!!" I gasped! I stopped getting excited for birthdays science my 16th, but I was turning 18, so my parents would let me drink alcohol! Yea, it's illegal, but it's fun.
"Oh yea, what did you need?" I looked over at my flag, Rachel is much shorter than my mom. Eh, let's give it a shot.
"My flag is missing a peg, I found the peg," I handed her the bright pink peg, "But I can't reach."
"How tall do you think I am?" She asked. I gave her a literal answer.
"5'2." She gave me the most dumbfounded look. Hey, it's what I thought.
"Excuse me, I am 5'5, thank you very much." I laughed. That was a rare occurrence. Rachel isn't the person that makes me laugh, but she did. That was nice.
We continued to attempt to get the flag on the ceiling fully, but we couldn't even grasp the ceiling.
"Could Sandy do it?"
"Sandy is fucking 15, mason, she's tiny."
"I'm not tiny!" A new voice came, Sandy. She is about as tall as Rachel, though. She had Sandy blonde hair and eyes that were blue as the ocean. How did she get that? My dad has brown eyes but my moms eyes were enchantingly blue. I just got a vibrant green.
My mom was stunning, if I wasn't gay, I'd understand why my dad and Rachel find her so attractive. She's got these big blue eyes, like blue like a pool. And this dark chocolate hair, and beautifully tanned skin. I don't get why she didn't stay in Polynesia. It sounds so nice, I don't remember anything about Polynesia, I wish I did, I only lived there for a year.
Me on the other hand, I carried my mom's freckles, that's about it. I have this kinda-tan skin, with brown hair that's wavy-ish. Looks much worse than mom's perfectly wavy hair.
"Earth to Mason?" Sandy was standing there trying to take me off auto-pilot. I awoke with a shake. "I fixed your flag." Sure enough the flag had all four pegs stabbed into the ceiling.
"But how? You're shorter than me!" She pointed to a step stool.
"Use your head, dumbass." I swear to god. She makes me want to die sometimes. She treats her mom, me, and my mom like shit. Yet she loves her dad. Because he's married to a woman. Makes me sick sometimes. What ever. I grabbed my red backpack with pride pins all over.
"Are you going to your boyfriend's?" Yes, I was. Me and all of my friends were going over to his house for a party/hangout for my birthday.
"Yea. You got a problem with that?" I was kinda scared for her response. But she just sighed and walked away.
I put on the backpack and was about to head out the door before a grabbed a juicy juice.
"Be home at 7:00! You can go back afterwords but your mom is planning a big dinner." I nodded and headed out the door.(A/N so hi! This is a story I started awhile ago. So yea... hope you enjoy!)
