I'm floating, my head so close to a tree I could see almost every detail. Every little carving and line. Seeming to have no end. The tree is bare, with little to no leaves on it, only a mirror instead of wood, the mirror still had bark but just more rigid. On the mirror, I don't see myself, I see little girl. Her eyes are too many colors for me to recognize. She wears a soft green dress with a brooch far to big for her. Her hair is blackish blue, somehow being more shades than the color itself. In a way she comforts me, the way I know that I'm not a monster, but it also saddens me to know that a frail little girl is all I'll ever be.

I wake up, startled. I jump from my bed, almost falling on my face. Once my mind realizes what is going on I calm down. I walk over to my bed and turn off my blaring alarm. I breath, almost reassuring myself I'm okay. I guess I haven't been the same since my dads death.
I was the one with him and I couldn't stop him from dying. He was across the street at the store. I saw a man in all black with a object but I didn't realize it at the time. I'm in New York, everyone wears weird clothing. It didn't cross my mind. When he came out he smiled at me and held up the bag. He looked both ways and started to cross.
BANG BANG BANG
My eyes were closed in surprise, then I glance up and see my dad looking behind him at the store, in the middle of the street. BAM! A flash of black races by. My dad is gone from the spot his feet were once planted. Blood splatter in every direction. The bags hit the car in front of me. My eyes fill with tears. My heart pounds like a brick pounding against my chest. I can't breath. I gulp air but I struggle. Tears spew like a thousand fountains. My dad is dead.
I shake my head. I need to stop thinking about the accident. It is over and done with. He is gone.
"Hey! Why do you have to make your stupid alarms so loud? Your gonna wake up the whole house! God." My sister complains. "Hey, at least I'm not going to be late." I reply coldly. If she is gonna make me mad this early in the morning, I'm gonna at least get to fight with her about it.
I take a quick shower and dry off. I glimpse at myself. I'm a pale, skinny girl with blackish blue hair. I have no boobs, unlike my sister who has already gone through puberty, even though we are twins. My hips are filled and I'm a little chunky around my legs region. "The perfect pear shape" I remember my friend saying. I wrap a towel around me and head to our room.
Callie (my sister) is still in bed when I get into the room. I carefully get dressed in a white short sleeve crop top and high waisted jeans. I put on a coat and throw a sandal at Callie. It hits her in the arm. Exactly where I aimed it for. "What? HEY! WHAT WAS THAT FOR??" She snorts as she wakes up. "Get up! We have to head out soon." I tell her. "Ugh" she makes inhuman scoff. Like a pig got hit with a sandal. It's kinda hilarious honestly. "Welp, I guess I'm gonna leave without you. Bye." I stride off knowing she will follow me like a lost puppy. "Wait! Let me get dressed!" She stumbles out of bed in a hurry.
I know I may seem mean but I have to get her to school some way.
We walk out the door, our stride matching, our heads held high. We are fraternal twins so we don't look alike. I look a lot older than her. We are both sophomores. I look about 18 while she looks 12. When I tell people we are twins they don't believe me. I mean I get it though, two girls claim they are twins when they look about 5 years apart.
We reach a sidewalk with Callie carved into it. I look at my sister, "Remember when the workers just put cement in and you stepped in it?" I ask to stop the silence. "Yeah they made me refill the spot I messed up and sit and wait for it to dry completely." Callie chuckled. "Yeah didn't you have to wait for like, 5 hours and got a really bad sunburn?" I asked. "No I waited for 4 hours and 7 minutes. And that sunburn hurt like hell."
"One more block and we will reach school" I tell myself. A car goes past, only to stop in the middle of the street. Callie looks at me and I look at her. I shrug my shoulders and kept walking. A man walks out of the car, he has a dirty blue long sleeve with some tan shorts that go to his knees. He looked as if he hadn't showered in a year and his head had patches of hair. The look like he gave is was worry and pure hate. I try not to stare, my head twitches on how bad I want to glance at this weird man walking torwards us. We keep going, so close. He grabs my arm and yanks me which causes me to fall to the ground. "Ahhh!! A-Alex!!" Callie scream which causes the man to become most furious. He grabs Callie's arms and holds them together and whispers "Quiet" in a long low voice, almost like a ghost. Before I know it I'm up hurling punches on the man.
I punch his rib, he whirls around and slaps me in the face. My face stings but I shake it off, I have to protect Callie. I slam my fist into his jaw and he falls down. I run over and pin him down while holding his hand together."Callie, get your phone and call the police. NOW" I order. Callie gets out her phone, her hands are shaking wildly. "...... umm a man attacked u-us and m-my sister has him p-pinned down. P-pl-please hurry........yes........no....... 184 Rose Lane.... yes, hurry." Callie hangs up and looks at me, "they said they will be here in close to 5 minutes."
This is bad, I am pinning down a man that attacked us, Calle is shaking and shuddering, and the cops will be here in 5 minutes.
