Chapter 5

I coughed up and spilled my cappuccino all over my new cropped t-shirt. The splashing sound of it lifted the thick layer of oblivion surrounding Monica and Benjamin.

"Emi..how long have you been standing..its umm nothing like that..I seriously don't feel like it now..you're like my younger sister.." Ben looked shocked as he gulped down a huge lump of collected saliva down his throat afraid of what Emily has to say.

"It's okayy, why are you acting all taken aback, I totally didn't mind, well the element of surprise for me is the sight of you two together, Monica wouldn't bear seeing you and,now all cosy hmm?" Emily's big almond eyes curved and a pouted smirk sparked upon her face edging Monica and Ben together.

"I-I it was extremely selfish and foolish of me to blame Ben for mummy and Patrick's death, and you evil creature knew about my crush on Ben, then why are you acting like you don't know"
Monica looked a bit bashed, her cheeks getting stained like mines in the presence of the charming Daniel.

"But now, we're together, we confessed to each other our mutual love and feelings and told each other our crushes. So err..we've planned to go to Yale together and before that.."

"Before that what? Why are you stammering Monica"

"We're getting married." Monica locked her green eyes in the deep chocolate brown of Bens.

"W-what? Stop with your stupid jokes. I'm not in the mood.Can't be. " I shook my head in disbelief, but soon after my eyes pounced upon them

They looked so cute together, my heart skipped a beat as I opened my mouth to release a scream but it came out to be a silent scream, just a jaw drop and I squeezed Monica and Ben tightly, wrapping them in my long slender arms like hugging my dearest dustin, my teddy bear.

"I'm so so so so happy for you two idiots! Life would be so much messier with two imbeciles(course, sarcastic me) living together. This calls for a treat! And speaking of treat, where is Merida thou?"

"She's doing the monthly grocery. Andyou forgot that it's 3 morons not two, you're the leader of course, how generous of you not taking credit as the king.And I've already ordered your favourite pizza pepperoni and cheese only." Monica gave me a huge wide grin showing all the row of her white teeth squeezing my shoulders in her overwhelming excitement.

"So when is the marriage"

"The next months end"

"OMG that's so near! I gotta gear up, my bridesmaid dress, my other dresses, my skin should be flawless and gotta get the tummy flat.."

"Look at you horrid hamster!it's your sisters wedding and all you think is about your gown, your tummy, your this your that. Gear up missy and help your sister with her bridal shower, her nails, her feet, her hands, her nose, her jewels, her honeymoon plans, her this her that. Ben can you believe this little witch" Monica tugging Ben on the shoulder, her voice overlain with pure sarcasm and a failed attempt of grave seriousness across her glowing face.

"Whatcha call me you alligator? Now you're gonna taste the fury of this unholy nefarious witch!"and off I sprint with a badminton racket in my left hand and in right grasp cappuccino spilling drop by drop carelessly on the mahogany wooden floor as i ran and ran round and round the lounge chasing Ben and Monica.

"What the heck is going on?! Next door Mr Kevin complained of the racket you're creating. Shimmer down your ear splitting tumultuous voices..I just mopped the floor Imma kill you emiiii" the brown paper packages slipped through Meridas tight grasp held against her chest as she saw us all running hither and thither like toddlers with rackets in their hands. The southern accent of hers sure made it ironic!

"Hey cheetah! Wait for this poor old lady, slow down emii
Through the aid of my stereoscopic vision I sighted aurora running like a dog chasing a bus.

"Hey my tiny turtle, what's up"

"W-wh-what did y-you call me? Wait till I catc-h m-my breath you slinky kid" Aurora still inhaling and exhaling sharply and deeply to get the airsacs in her lungs brimming with air.

"Hey guys, what's up"
Jade making the sort of face what is happening here.

"Just some punches required for emi's stomach, wanna give a hand?"

"Suree why nott" jade rolling up her sleeves while smirking.

"H-h-hey I'm gonna run, catch me if you can you two turtles" I ran giggling and grinning until I hit some hard surface, I blinked my eyes several times to clear my blurry vision.

I saw aurora and jade several feet apart behind me, I saw jade hiding her face with both her hands giggling profusely I wonder why, aurora's mouth was wide open her pupil gone upwards as if some disgusting thing lied ahead of her, heat tides of anger were rising up her eyes.

Aurora revolved while standing at one point giving me some hint, perhaps she wanted me to do the same. And then I did the same.

And what my eyes held before me, left me astonished, flabbergasted and stupefied. My pupils dilated my jaw dropped my nose twitched and my eyebrows raised. A gush of adrenaline started to flow rapidly through my veins, my cheeks were no more white.

I saw Noah in his basketball uniform with his safety helmet still on his head, he had a blank face, as if he couldn't decide which fiendish facial expression or cringe is suitable for this situation. Blimey! The hard surface i collided with was Noah! We were never this close before. Never. Ever. I could hear my hearts pounding almost a thousand times per minute, he just stared at me. Nothing else. Just his emerald green eyes against the dark blue of mines. I decided to end the awkward eye contact, but as I averted my face, Noah still wearing his hand knitted mittens, placed his hand on my chin and turned my face facing him. and opened his mouth to say something, but then all of a sudden the warmth in his eyes extinguished, and an icy look returned.he just asked if i was fine and then let go of me and said

"Watch where your going"

That's it.

But what the heck was that.I still eyed my surroundings still dumbstruck.
What the heck just happened?!

I turned around to see whether he turned back one more time before he went, as they do in movies. But no he didn't, come on its life not a Disney movie or a teen-fiction novel emi.andd reality. hit.me.hardd.

Just when the adrenaline diluted, and I came back to sanity I saw aurora and jade their arms crossed and pouts on their lips. They were cross.

"Why didn't you stop when I called your name. Running like an untamed lion, that monster what did he say to you did he hit you did he hurt you are you okay that son of a.."

"Pause, pause"jade covered auroras big mouth with her hands.

"No he-he didn't, he didn't say a word"
The next part I considered better to remain unrevealed and stay safe in a secure portion at the back of my mind.

"Hi mates, aren't we getting late for class" out of nowhere Daniel Archibald appeared jogging his way to the class. Course we were standing in the locker hallway.

"Y-yea let's head in shall we" aurora eyed me and jade to pretend nothing happened and quietly enter the classroom.

And we're in. A comet crossed the universe of my mind and i started rotating my eyeballs here and there like a chameleon trying to find its prey. And Noah was no where to be found.
