Me saying hello means I am letting go of my loneliness and holding onto hope.
Me saying goodbye means I am letting go of hope and holding onto memories.
Both of them are liberating, somehow.
With hello, I don't have to pretend that the silence isn't suffocating. With goodbye, I don't have to pretend that putting a smile on my face isn't exhausting.
It is sad. It is painful. But it is just the way it has to be.
