"You can't leave me. You couldn't live without me."
He turned to contemplate the insolent girl cowering in the corner of the room, lazily crooking an eyebrow in a perfect arc as he did so. For such bold words, her body language didn't match up with the confidence in her voice. For a moment he almost felt sorry for her, but as his eyes swept over every inch of her body once more, any ounce of sympathy he might have felt for her dissolved in an instant. She just looked so pathetic; the way she couldn't seem to stop trembling, the way those frightened doe-eyes pleaded silently with him. It aggravated him, how much much she reminded him of that air-headed marshmallow boy. Clicking his tongue in disgust, he approached her, reveling in the way she shrank back from him as each footstep brought him closer to her.
He slammed his hand into the wall above her head, caging her against the wall with his body. His smirk faltered as her familiar scent wreathed around him -ugh, he'd told her to do something about that offending odour. Even more enraged now, he deftly hooked a finger under her chin and angled her face upwards, forcing her to look at him. "Are you trying to convince me or yourself that, princess?"
She hesitated. He continued, his lips curling into a sneer. "Let me reiterate this to you again, sweetheart. Ray. Is. Gone. Your precious prince charming isn't here to feed you sweet nothings anymore."
Her facial expression remained relatively unchanged, -something that had always irritated him- but he had the satisfaction of watching her eyes glaze over; of watching something inside her dim and go out as it finally got through to her: Ray wasn't going to come to her rescue.
"Lie to me." She whispered.
Maybe it was a low blow to kick at someone when they were already down, but he couldn't resist the temptation to lean in and brush his lips against her forehead, murmuring his next words against her skin.
"I love you."
