Dressed in a tight black dress, I waltzed into the Mackie party. I paid my money inside and cracked open a beer, only to be greeted by Darron. He took a shot of whiskey in front of me.

"Jynx! I'm so happy to see you! I already got some, and I'm planning on getting more," he says and shouts woohoo!

He runs back into the crowd, and I'm left near someone's bed with a beer in hand. I watch people pass by. There are genuinely goth people playing heavy metal from their phones as they push past me, but there's also a few colorful outfits in the crowd. Generally, I don't feel out of place, but I do feel lonely. I can't see Alicia or Praise yet.

After a few sips of beer, I see Alicia in a circle with some friends. I squeeze through a couple of tall guys and hold Alicia's arm when I feel it.

"Jynx, I'm glad you came," she says with a slight smirk on her face. "Let me introduce you to my friends."

She starts pointing to each person and saying their name, but I don't remember their names almost immediately after I'm done meeting them. They're all boring and lazy-looking like Alicia, and none of them are shockingly attractive. Finally, one person asks who I am.

"This is Jynx Sierra! She's the girl I've been messing with," Alicia says.

On the outside, I laugh and playfully nudge Alicia. Everyone joins in on the joke, making comments about how pretty I am. On the inside, I'm shrinking in on myself. I can't believe I came to an emo party to see Praise, but I'm hanging out with Alicia and meeting her friends.

I miss Praise.

Alicia goes back to socializing with her friends for a few minutes. I stay quiet for the most part because I don't want her friends to become my friends. I'm sure they're good people, but when Alicia and I break up the drama would tear apart the entire friend group.

"Jynx, let's go," Alicia says when the conversation dies down a bit.

I let Alicia lead me around the room to a closet. It's empty and large enough to fit a few standing people, but Alicia just boldly pushes us both inside. She closes the sliding door behind us and sits down. The pitch black in the closet is interrupted by a few stripes of light coming from cracks in the door, but it's obvious that no one could get a good look inside.

Alicia immediately puts her hand on my face and starts kissing me. I play along, but I'm not in the mood to do anything in a closet. After all, my beer is still in my hand, and I'm not drunk yet!

As Alicia gets more passionate with her kissing, I put down my beer and start holding her. She speeds up. I push myself against the right wall of the closet, and she puts her left hand against the same wall, right by my head. Her other hand starts feeling me up. My dress comes off with a zipper in the back, so I doubt she's planning on taking my clothes off, but her right hand starts feeling the inside of my thigh, and I feel my blood turn to water right underneath my skin.

"Wait," I whisper when we're breathing between kisses.

"What's wrong?" she asks.

I shake my head but swallow a lump in my throat so big that Alicia can hear it. "Nothing! I'm just not ready for anything more yet."

I open the closet door and grimace when people catcall Alicia and me. With my beer in hand, I storm for the bathroom to find refuge from this party that's going horribly wrong. I find the bathroom near the front of the room and walk in since it's unlocked.

I walk in on Praise smoking a joint, which makes sense because the bathroom smells and looks dank. I lock the door behind myself and cross my arms. Neither of us make a sound for almost a minute. I know because I'm literally checking my phone! Praise just puffs her joint, inhaling long drags and holding them in for a few seconds, only to let out a small stream of smoke.
