It was a normal day like always, but this time my dad had took me to school earlier than usual. I was the only person in there, except for two other friends of mine from Section B, but I was so sleepy that I didn't say hi and I just sat down in a bank, used my backpack as a pillow and lied down to try to get some rest. A few minutes later a classmate came and started talking to me... Making my rest impossible to get.
-Hello Isabelle!-said my classmate.
-Hello Anthony...- I was getting mad at him.
-How are you? What are you doing?
-I'm taking sun at the beach, Wanna join me?-I said with a great amount of sarcasm.
-Sure!-said Anthony with a big smile on his face.
I returned the smile to him and tried to regain my nap, but when I was going to close my eyes, I realized something.
-Wait, Is our classroom open?
Anthony stood up and walked next to our classroom's door, the next thing he did was turning the door's nob and opened it. Every classroom was locked in the morning until the maintenance man came to unlock them, everyday, without exception, so I didn't take the time to confirm it that morning.
-I'm going in!!!
Because of the fact that it was really early in the morning, the weather was really cold, weird thing considering the country I lived in and I had forgotten to bring my sweater with me. Once inside the classroom, I took a look at all the empty desks; a benefit of arriving early was that you could actually decide where to sit, instead of choosing from one of the few seats that were left empty when you were late.
I chose one of the seats that were right next to the left wall of the classroom. I was so tired that I took three chairs so I could lie down and finally get some rest... But something caught my eye.
There was a folded piece of paper on the ground.
I lifted it up the ground, sat down and unfolded it. Here's what it said:
"It's happenin' today"
"It's happenin' today"? What's that supposed to mean? What's happening today? Is this one of those notes that those attention-calling girls were writing to each other yesterday? What did they mean?
I was going to throw the piece of paper to the garbage until I saw something else. In the corner of the paper, written with a very small and almost unreadable letter, it said:
"SoMeBoDy iS gOiNg To DiE"
"Somebody is going to die"?! What the heck is that supposed to mean?! Is this a joke?! Did those girls write this?! Why?! It's not funny! Why would they be talking about stuff like this?!
I tried to calm myself down, I didn't want Anthony to find out about the paper. Maybe it was something meaningless, but still, something told me that I just had to keep it to myself, so I folded the paper again and put it inside my P.E uniform pocket.
Not even a minute passed by when another classmate, Ronald, arrived. That's when I realized that the day was still way too long to finish and that I had to keep the paper thing out of my mind.
...
It was a Tuesday, so our classes were going to be Art, Basic Military Training, Math, Spanish and, finally, P.E.
It was 9:45 am, meaning that our BMT class was about to begin. Everybody rushed inside the classroom to get to their seats and waited for our teacher to give us the command to go outside and wait for him at the court but, to our surprise, we didn't go out that quickly, we were having one of those few theoretical classes.
