During the Great Crusade of the 31st Millennium, Knight house was the most feared during this time this knight house was the German House of Totenkopf. At first, the house was just your typical protection house for German colonists that had gone to colonize the planet Agone which the natives called it on the planet. The Germans, on the other hand, called the planet Neues Deutschland after the country that was apart of the old world. The House was lost, however, during the Age of Strife when many warp storms caused by Slaanesh. The birth of this god halted supplies and needed aid to the colonists, which gave way to political discourse in the government of the planet.
When the Emperor and his sons came to reconquer humanities planets that were lost during the Age of Strife they were mortified by what they came across on Argonne. At this point, however, is when the accounts differ of what was seen on the planet which Horus described. The report says that it was, "A police state of unimaginable horror." that "tortured anyone out of line and the soldiers would rape whoever they wanted. They did not care who it was a lonely widow trying to grief or a young man trying to get home from work." The one thing that amazed them was the Knight house and how it had not fallen to the reign of terror that was instilled within its people. After many years, however, in a secret document given to Adeptus Minstorum. It recalls how the knight house would try to "fuel the revolution." or bring in as the government would dictate as "undesirables and freaks." As the plan went underway, the Emperor promised that after the Crusade that the planet will be helped to regain economic stability. After that, the Emperor gave his word with that promise the House of Totenkopf was to be Refitted and Reborn into the Argonne and possibly the entire sector.
The symbol of the Totenkopf House was with a skull and crossbones and if not that it was the old symbol of Prussia with Blue and Gold as their colours and are one of the most significant Knight House in their sector and most of the elite Knights have black to field grey armours.
