"Lavender, can I talk to you?"
The boy sighed pressing his cigarette to his desk as he sat up in bed.
"If you have to mother dearest."
Ember grinned as Vivien shuddered.
When Ember was a child he'd call her that and it creeped her out to no end.
"Look about what you said last night at dinner, if I would have known-"
"Let me clear things up,"
Ember whispered sharply cutting off his mother.
"You knew. Whether you want to admit it or not, you saw the coke and you saw the bruises and the cuts."
Ember hissed, his mother grimacing as he pulled up his sleeves.
"Look at me!"
Ember cried holding out his arms as tears fell down Vivien's eyes.
"Look at what I did to myself!"
Ember yelled, his body shaking as he looked down at the deep scars on his arms.
"Every single day I thought it was going to be my last,"
Ember sniffled falling back into his bed frame.
"And if it weren't for Violet I would've died before we even moved in."
Ember whispered as his mother looked at him with a guilty expression.
"Not you! Not dad, hell dad was my best friend! And I thought one day maybe he'd ask what was wrong, what was going on with me."
Ember swallowed hard standing from his bed.
"He never did. But Violet did."
Ember shook his head, falling silent as his mom looked anywhere but him.
"Excuse me-"
"There you go. Avoiding me again."
Ember rolled his eyes lighting up a cigarette.
Viven went to respond but instead she put a hand over her mouth hurrying out of the room.Violet entered moments later with a shocked expression.
"What the hell was that?"
Ember rolled his eyes, ignoring his twin.
"I mean I get that you hate our parents but-"
"Oh shut the hell up Violet!"
Ember shouted lighting up a cigarette.
"Don't get mad at me!"
Violet scoffed as Ember turned to face her.
"God Violet, you're as dumb as them!"
Ember laughed condescendingly as Violet glared.
"What's the supposed to mean?"
"Come on Vi! You talk about how you want 'darkness,' and how you aren't scared of anything,"
Ember laughed mockingly taking a step closer to her.
"But Tate scares the shit out of one bitchy rich kid from school and you're crying scared?"
Ember scoffed shaking his head as he put the cigarette out on his skin, ignoring Violet's gasp.
"You talk a lot of shit sis, but you're just a scared kid."
Ember glared, eye to eye with his sister
"You're making no fucking sense."
Violet hissed.
"Really Violet? Cause I think this house scares you, and I think Tate scares you-"
"You're scaring me."
Violet deadpanned as Ember chuckled darkly staring her down.
"Good. You should be scared of me."With that Ember bumped his twins shoulder roughly, walking out of the room without a second glance.
