The Mundane Shadowhunters

Chapter Seven

(Athena's POV)

Daniel and I have grown ever so close recently I've been trying to avoid the Rosewoods as much as I can and Daniels been more than good company. Who doesn't love a good hunt and great snog.
We're walking around the front of an abandoned hotel hunting demons, we have no idea what type of demon we are hunting yet but it's a suprise.
"Oh I do love suprises Daniel"
"I hope it's a kuri I've only killed less then a handful of those in my life"
"I hope for a greater demon I've never killed one of those and it would be so badass"
"One, what are the chances a greater demon would be here and two, have you killed a behemoth before?" Daniel says as he opens the door of the hotel and it is empty atleast at first glance.
"Oh those are foul but yes it was one of my first hunts with Kenzie and hey I heard about the greater demon Lilith was chilling out in a hotel in New York years ago trying to turn babies into demons, those really famous shadowhunters killed her... The ones that stopped the war"
"Oh um Clary and Jace and them. Speaking of Kenzie  tho... Have two spoken since the fight?"
I sigh leading us down the staircase to the basement.
"Barely, I've wanted to but I guess I just can't swallow my pride and admit I was wrong and I guess I'm also afraid"
"Afraid of what miss Blackwater"
"That she won't forgive me, that she loves our punishment because it means she can be a mundane with the benefits, Mr Nightwell" calling each other by out last names like this has been a little habit we started a few days ago and just kinda stuck.
"You know what I think, you should go home tonight and talk to her like grown adults, after all your 18 next week so your legally an adult time to start acting like one"
"Ow harsh, fight me bro..." I mock fake pain in my chest "Wait how did you know my birthday is next week?"
"Institute records"
I slap his arm lightly
"Cheat!"
There's a noise up ahead as we enter the basement.
"Witchlights?" I hear from beside me.
I pull my witchlight out as Daniel does the same and the small room fills with the white glow of the stones and crouching in the corners are raveners
"Urgh raveners again" I roll my eyes and lunge for a demon to the left of me.
Daniel goes to the right, we fight our way threw the demons, just as it looks like we almost  killed them all a door burst open and more come flooding into the small dank room.
"By the angel!" I bring my blade down threw another demon and Daniel joins me by my side. I miss having Kenzie in a fight but Daniel is a great alternative, he moves with me in unison almost as if he were my parabatai. A demon lunges at me and i run him threw like it was nothing. I see a flicker of white light and find we are joined by another, a woman. Her long black hair tied in a high ponytail tail as she slices threw the raveners easily, half her face covered, her bright blue eyes shinning like sapphires even in this dim light. Before I know it the demons are dead and I'm standing there staring at this beautiful woman in awestruck. she removes her mask and smiles a dazzling crimson smile first at me and then Daniel. I tense up and take a step toward Daniel suddenly feeling jealous like a child.
"What are you doing her" Daniel crosses his arms and there is clear frustration in his voice.
"I came to see what has been Occupying my little brothers time so often" her voice is like warm water washing over an icy river.
"Little brother? So you must be Chris? Not at all what I imagined."
"Chrisanthia, pleasure to meet you" she extends her hand to me "and what did you imagine?"
I take her gloved hand in my own gloved hand and I feel my cheeks flush crimson ever so slightly, oh god I hope Daniel doesn't notice.
"Just not this. I mean your like the opposite of Daniel"
"He looks like mother I take after father"
"Anyways Chris you should go home and Athena and I have some stuff to take care of"
"We do?" I look at Daniel confused.
"Yes Athena we do" he raises an eyebrow.
"Oohhhh yes yes we do we have that stuff to take care of"
Chrisanthia smirks "well if it's shadowhunter related let me help."
I see Daniel roll his eyes and Chris holds back a laugh.
"What about you Athena? Do you mind if I come along?"
"Uuuhhh ummm uh Daniel and I are going to have dinner"
"What are we having" Chris leans against a concrete pillar, ichor is splashed halfway up it.
"Chrisanthia go home please" Daniel looks defeated as if he's had to do this countless time and never won against her.
"Fine I shall let you both be but Athena we should hang out tomorrow night"
Without even braking eye contact with Chris who placed a hand on my upper arm.
"Of course shall I meet you somewhere?"
"Uh Athena what about our hunt?"
"Oh dear brother let her off for one night and make friends"
I can tell Daniel is frustrated and I pull away from the beautiful women Infront of Me and move beside Daniel.
"We should go to the carnival all three of us?" I say with an awkward smile on my face.
"Deal" Chrisanthia says.
"I guess, sure" Daniel says reluctantly and grabs my hand and whispers in my ear "can we go now?" I nodd and look at Chrisanthia
"It was nice meeting you, see you tomorrow"
"Goodnight Athena"
And with that Daniel and I leave the hotel in silence until we are far away from that place.
"Okay what is up with you and your sister?"
"It's a long story I really don't want to get into it right now"
He looks upset So I decide not to pressure him.
"Let's eat food and Daniel?"
"Yes Athena?"
I bite my lip and look nervous
"Do you want to come back to mine tonight? It's a long walk from mine to the institute. I mean I'll sleep on the little sofa in my room, you can have my bed"
"I think I should go home tonight but how about tomorrow night? After the carnival and don't be silly if you don't feel comfortable sharing a bed I will gladly sleep else where."
"Perfect. Well let's get food"
