Marcus and Sam ran into the room. Water instantly hit their midsections. "What in the hell?" asked Sam "I don't know," replied Marcus, "It's got to be better then what's back there." "Be careful Marcus." said Sam. "I will." Marcus took a single steep and lost his footing. Falling forwards, Makira fell off his shoulders and landed in the water with a splash. Makira's senses instantly went to work as the cold water hit her, wakening her in a flash. Makira jumped up sticking her head above the water. "What the hell Marcus?" "Look I'm sorry carrying you isn't the easiest, you're not the lightest thing." Makira looked at him sternly. "What is that supposed to mean." "Did I stutter, I said you not the lightest thing in the world?" "Are you saying that I am fat Marcus?" "Nope." "Well then what do you mean then?" "Well Makira you're the one who is always saying that you're not small." Makira stood still for a moment stunned at his response. Sam looked over at Marcus and put her hand over her mouth as a laugh quietly came out. "Well be a little more careful next time." "Why yes your high ness." Sam let out a small giggle. "Now Marcus be nice" she interjected. "She should quit getting knocked out. I'm tired of saving her." "Excuse me? You'd be in pieces right now at the foot of that queen's throne if it weren't for me." "You'd be roast duck if I hadn't drugged your arse to safety." "Enough you two we've all helped each other out of some tight situations here." Sam was growing tired of their bikerment.

The three stood in silence for a moment and looked around. The walls shimmered and gleamed. Strange orbs floated and glowed with soft pinks deep blues and light purples. Long tails flowed off the orbs and strands of hairs came off of their rims. They were smooth and round at the top; their tails flowed like scrunched lace some longer than whole trees. The group looked at these strange creatures with awe. They could see fish of the most brilliant colors and odd shapes floating over their heads just past the ceiling. One large flat fish swam at them from the side. It had a single long spike for a tail and seemed to fly like a large bird. It came through the wall just in front of them and splashed through the wall on the other side. "That was amazing." Sam said. "Truly beautiful." added Makira. "We're under water?" Marcus asked.

They walked to the end of the hall taking in all of the marvelous sights. They saw a large swarm of fish or people or whatever they were swimming in a large circle just beyond the edge of the hall. Their flesh was light pale grey. Their hair was shades of blues and greens. Their noses were simple slits just above their lips. Their eyes were large and dark with hints of amber around the edges. They looked female having smaller tight breast but they had no legs. Their skin bulked out from the hips and looked like a gown that came to a point at the end where feet should be. The gowns had ridges in them adding definition to the otherwise smooth texture.

Makira looked at the creatures as they danced magnificently. "Are they mermaids?" "I don't know they don't look like the creatures in the songs." Sam stated. Makira touched the wall. The creatures stopped their dance and looked back at the three. They swam up next to the wall and gazed at the three. One began to wave for them to join them and they all began to do the same. Makira turned and looked at the other two. "I think they want us to join them." "I don't think that's such a good idea. We can't breathe under water." Marcus interjected. One of the creatures stopped and looked at Marcus blinking two sets of eyelids. "Come join us, play with us." He heard a voice sound through his head. He blinked his eyes and shook his head, fighting off a slight urge to go diving through the wall. "Either of you hear that?" He asked. "Hear what?" Sam returned. "They asked us to join them and play I swear I heard it in my head." "Great you're hearing voices now?" Makira chuckled. "Dance with us, play with us, join us, don't be scared." They all head the voices of little girls ringing through their ears. Makira looked at the dancing creatures. "Come on lets go." Sam and Marcus fought still resisting the pull at their will to join the creatures in their underwater world. "Makira didn't you just hear what I said we can't breathe under water, we can't go."
