You've ruined my life by not being mine...
I miss you more than I thought that I would

CHAPTER ONE©

Mania | Caius

I let out a heavy sigh as I stared at the couple before me. Alice and Jasper, the two Cullen vampires I despised the most, were standing there pleading with me to help them.

My siblings, Leah and Seth, had somehow gotten wrapped up in their family's mess, and now they were asking me to risk my own life and the life of my unborn child to assist them. I shook my head firmly, refusing to give in to their demands.

"Alice, leave!" I shouted for the fourth time, my voice laced with frustration. "No, Mania, you have to help me, help us," Alice insisted, her golden eyes wide and desperate. I clenched my jaw, unwilling to budge. "No, I'm not risking my life or my unborn baby's life for your family," I stated resolutely.

"But your brother, Seth, and your sister, Leah, they're on our side," Alice tried to reason with me. I felt my anger boiling over as I realized the extent of her manipulation. "You dragged my siblings into your family's mess!" I yelled, my hands balling into fists at my sides.

"They want to help, especially since Renesmee is Jacob's imprint," Alice said, invoking the name of the child at the center of this whole debacle. I scoffed, shaking my head in disbelief. "Well, that's them. I don't care, so leave," I said, my tone brooking no argument.

Suddenly, Jasper, who had been silent up until this point, spoke up. "Please, help us," he said, his voice soft and pleading. I couldn't help but be taken aback by his rare intervention. Alice seized the opportunity, her expression shifting to one of pure desperation. "Please, Mania," she begged, her usually confident demeanor crumbling.

I steeled my resolve, unwilling to be swayed by their pleas. "No," I said firmly, my gaze unwavering. Alice let out a frustrated sigh, and I knew she was running out of options. "I'll be in debt to you forever, Mania," she tried one last time, her voice dripping with desperation.

"No," I repeated, my answer resolute. I could see the frustration building in Alice's features, and before I could react, she turned to Jasper. "Jasper, put her to sleep," she commanded. In a flash, Jasper was by my side, and everything went black as he used his ability to render me unconscious.

When I finally came to, I found myself in the middle of a vast, open field, the Cullen coven and their allies gathered on one side, and the Volturi, the powerful vampire coven from Italy, on the other. I could feel the tension in the air, the anticipation of a confrontation that could turn deadly at any moment.

Carlisle, the patriarch of the Cullen family, stepped forward, his voice calm and diplomatic as he addressed Aro, the leader of the Volturi. "Aro, my old friend, can we not talk about this civilly?" he called out, his words laced with a hint of desperation.

Aro's response was laced with a touch of condescension. "A little late for that, seen as you have an army to go against me," he said, his gaze sweeping over the gathered forces.

Carlisle offered a compromise, "Witnesses to show there is no wrongdoing, just like your witnesses." Aro seemed to consider this for a moment, his crimson eyes narrowing as he contemplated the situation.

"Edward, with the way the child clings to you and your mate, I assume you are involved," Aro called out, his tone almost playful. "Why don't you come and tell me what happened?" he suggested, his invitation tinged with a subtle threat.

I struggled against Jasper's hold, my anger flaring as I realized the extent of the Cullens' involvement in this mess. "Let me go, Jasper. I swore I'll rip your head off for this," I yelled, my voice laced with fury.
