Annabeth Chase was confused. And she didn't appreciate that. A daughter of Athena, confused? Not natural. Not at all.
But she was confused because for the first time in a long time she truly felt sad. Sometimes a symptom of intelligence and pride is numbness, when you stand in a room and make battle plans and watch pawns die at your hand, and wars be fought, and even feel the adrenaline in your own veins as you desperately try to win, and win, and win again, it often comes with not caring. Once you see one of your friends die, you can see a million and not care. It's just another body in the dump. I'm not saying Annabeth Chase was a monster. I'm saying she was a side effect of wars. After a while you look in the mirror and you've really got to think: why do i fight?
Annabeth Chase fought because she liked to fight, but she fought because she was good at it, and because her pride was her downfall.
So, yeah, you could definitely say Annabeth was confused as to why she was crying. And she was so, so confused as to why she was terrified at the same time.
So I took a hiatus from Watt pad and have returned fully invigorated.
