Haman, Tahlia and Doran sat with Lucian in his tent in the main camp. They had been going over the plan, making corrections. Haman of course was no help what so ever. If it wasn't for his brawn and who his father was Lucian would have killed him by now. Doran gave him some useful information on how the Shadow Legion usually attack so if they weren't scattered about as Lucian thought there would be no nasty surprises. Tahlia it seemed turned out to have quite the head for war planning. Lucian was glad he thought to include her in his generals even though he still was uneasy about her.
"I am going to get a bite to eat," a bored looking Haman said as he stood breaking Lucian out of his thoughts. Tahlia who had been writing down some information looked up in thought.
"Bring me back something as well," she said before going back to her writing. Doran was out and about training troops and Lucian always declined his offer so Haman just walked out of the tent. Lucian watched him leave before opening his mouth.
"Is all he does is eat," he asked. Tahlia lifted her head to look at him and sighed.
"Well no. he does train and lose his temper," she answered sounding annoyed at being interrupted. Lucian nodded and let his thoughts consume him again. Tahlia simply went back to whatever it was she was writing.
Lucian thought of his son. Reginald had been gone now over a month and the longer he was gone that angrier Lucian got. How dare the boy run from him and with that blasted Legionnaire too? Tomorrow he would start his slaughter and march his way through the lands until he got to the castle then he would kill all who stood in his way. Once he had the crown, Thius would fall to his feet and his transgressions from long ago would be forgotten.
Alexander followed Selena down into the valley. They had finally arrived at his father's camp. It was huge to say the least. Everyone was busy making final preparations for the next day, they had all received the same information from the Shadow Legion scouts. Lucian poised to strike at dawn. Nerves gripped Alexander as they walked through the valley. His four friends and the other eight recruits followed behind him while Selena, Christophe, Sorriel, Lila, Herold and Elena were in front. Alexander sat on top of Midnight with his back straight and eyes forward. People parted the way for them staring until they were out of sight. Finally they came to what seemed like the biggest tent out of all that was set-up. Dismounting, they each let the reins of their horses drop knowing there was no need to tie them. The horses were trained to wait on their masters.
"The twelve of you must stay out here," Selena said to the recruits.
"Katherine, Kaleb and Landon come inside with me," Alex said firmly. The three friends stood by Alexander's side while the others stood by the entrance in a neatly formed group as if on guard. Selena looked at them in amusement; they had grown a lot over the pass weeks. Selena, Alexander and the rest made their way inside the tent.
"I can't believe we are going to let them attack first," the king roared just as they entered.
"Will you shut it? We already went over why we are going to do it this way," Lavender shouted. Alexander had never seen her so animated since he had met her.
"Don't shout at me!"
"Then don't shout at me!" she replied still shouting. He glared at her and she glared right back. It was as if they were little kids fighting over a cookie.
"Alexander, Lavender must you really yell," Selena announcing their presence. The two turned their heads towards them and then back at each other.
"She yelled at me," the king growled.
"You yelled first," Lavender contradicted. Selena sigh and took one of the seats nearby. Alexander and the others followed. As Alexander sat he looked at his father who had finally noticed his existence.
