Chapter 4:He Doesn't Give Up Easy.

Nora's POV

"Hey" a voice spoils my concentration which was fixed on my maths homework.

I look up, a smile finding its way on my face at the person.

"Hey you" I smile at the person standing before me as he looks down at me with a smile.

"So, homework?" Shawn asks sitting down beside me and leaning against the trunk of the tree I was sitting near.

"Yeah," I sigh, scratching my forehead a little. "Maths, and guess what?" I ask, he raises his brows and nods for me to continue. "Algebra Shawn, its algebra" I tell him, almost whining as he chuckles a little.

"C'mere" he gestures from his fingers for me to come closer to him and I oblige, crawling my way to him after handing him my rough and fair notebook with my pencil case. When I have settled myself against the trunk beside him and look up, heat quickly finding its way up my face. His eyes were glued to my chest! After noticing my stare he quickly tears his gaze away and looks to the swings where Laura is playing with four girls same of her height.

"She's enjoyin' herself isn't she?" He asks, wrapping an arm around my waist and pushing my body in his. My breath slightly hitches in my throat and I desperately pray he didn't hear me.

"She's the only one who's enjoying life in this wicked place we call earth" I say, leaning my head against the wooden trunk and somewhat leaning into him.

"Its not that bad if we learn to cope with the problems we face" his warm breath fans my cheek as he says the words while looking at me.

"And how is that possible if you've reached your breaking point?" He is looking at me but I stare straight ahead, not looking at his sympathetic expression.

"Then you stand up, brush off the dust, flick your hair" he flicks his hair that doesn't even flick and I burst out laughing. "Pop a hip out and walk like you own the world" he says and he is chuckling while I giggle like an idiot.

"Oh I wish I could do it" I say with a sad smile, watching Laura as she giggles and runs around with her friends while her laughter rings in my ears.

"You can" he encourages and laces the fingers of the hand of the arm that is around me.

I shake my head. "I can't" I feel his fingers tighten against mine.

"You are a strong girl Nora, trust me, if you want to, you can" he encourages me again, putting his head on my shoulder as his hair tickles my cheek and neck. "If you want to, I can help you through the dark" he promises and I smile.

"You are a good man Shawn, the girl you will have a future with is really lucky" I promise.

"What?" He jolts, his arm and hand removing from me. I give him a confused look as he stares at me with his brows raised. "I thought we were a thing?" He asks and I almost slap myself after realising what I just said. You aren't with him Nora! You have a thing with Shawn! Shawn is not in the friend zone! Not after your birthday!
