Finland continued to cry and wail as he knew the pup probably drowned in the river's current. The water carried on by them, like nothing had happened. Iceland and Denmark stood by until Finland had calmed down, Denmark frowned, "I'm sorry Finland but we need to get up the mountain path by night fall or else we will be caught in the rising water of the river. "
Finland nodded and turned to walk of with the rest of them, staying silent. His once happy expression replaced by a forlorn expression. The wolves dragged themselves up the steep path to a high outcove and cave that over looked the river.
Finland walked to the back of the cave curling up with his head on his paws so that he could sleep, Sweden laid next to him nuzzling him to let him know he was there for him if he needed him. Denmark laid down by himself with Iceland also distancing himself from the others. Each of them were grieving for thier lost pack members.
Iceland awoke early in the morning looking around as a fine mist of fog laid in the cave. He stood up walking out of the cave and back on to the mountain pass, "I can't be without my big brother." He mumbled walking back down to where the river was, "I'll go mad without him, I need him." He said as he stopped at the new edge of the river. It had swelled over night due to the new water flowing from it.
He looked over the water as is swirled along the rocks in it causing rapids to form, he hated this river. It took his brother and another pack member. Now... it would take him as well. He closed his eyes as he prepared to jump into the river when he heard someone behind him along with smelling a familiar scent, "Little brother you know you can't swim."
Iceland turned around to see Norway standing there. His fur was matted with thin layers of ice and he was shaking from the cold. Iceland ran up to him, "Big brother how did you survive? We saw the bear had frozen to death!" He started to lick at the ice on the other's pelt attempting to thaw it and help the other warm up.
"I used the bear as a sort of shield going down the river, also I used its fur for warmth from the water. The water wasn't cold but when it comes into contact with the air it freezes so I stuck to the bottom of the river toward the warmer current.." He said giving a sneeze. "I was washed up down shore under water where I stayed for a while taking breaths from the surface until the river compltely thawed. Then I saw you almost drown yourself.... were you really going to kill yourself for me little brother?"
Iceland nodded ashamed as he looked down, "I can't live without you big brother.... and Den... he lost it and we almost had to leave him from his mental state...." Norway nodded, "I would'nt have thought he would have lost it that quickly." He said looking at him, "But at any rate I need to get out of the air... I'm about to freeze over..." He said.
Iceland nodded and led him back to the cave where he nudged Denmark awake. The Dane got up and froze at the sight of the other before practically tackling him and licking him, "Norway!" He barked happily, "You're ok! You're ok!" He yipped and Norway shoved him off, "Yes I'm alright I can't leave you alone by yourself, who knows what could happen..." He muttered.
Sweden walked over but Finland stayed laying down in the back of the cave, "Welcome back brother." He said looking at him and Norway nodded before looking at Finland, "What happened to him?" He asked, "Sealand drowned in the river shortly after you dissapeared." He said and Norway nodded walking over to the Finn and nudging him gently to let him know he was there before walking back over.
Norway laid down in between Denmark and Iceland letting the other two warm him up.
"I'd never leave you alone..."
