Chuuya woke up to the smell of smoke and to the rays of sunshine coming through the apartment's windows. He jumped out of the bed and followed the smell of something burnt into the kitchen.
"Dazai, what the fuck have you done??" He shouted more annoyed now than concerned about the smoke.
"Oh, I'm making breakfast for us." He replied with a proud smile on his face as he was standing next to the cooker with a frying pan in his hand. Chuuya could see that the little window behind him was open which meant that Dazai knew it too that something wasn't right. "I wanted to bring it to bed for you but you have already ruined it, Chuuya" His expression suddenly changed to a more upset one. At this point Chuuya was just mad.
"But why do you have to burn the fucking house down for such simple thing... You may want to die but I sure wanna stay alive for a while." The shorter boy replied, scratching the back of his neck. "By the way, you almost never eat anything all day let alone something like breakfast. I'm always the one who cooks and you barely eat any of that too. Are you sick? What is up with you today? Should I just take you to Mori-san to check up on you?" He asked from his partner in disbelief.
"You're seriously the worst, Chuuya." Dazai replied starting to actually feel hurt from his partners words. He knew the ginger knew and understood him well enough now that they had been partners for almost 2 years. But his unusual behavior had a reason behind it. That day was a day even Dazai would do something unusual. So he tried to shake off his partners comment, not like it bothered him so much in the first place. He turned back to the pan flipping the pancake in it then turning to his partner. "Nothing's wrong with me. Chuuya is so dumb sometimes." He said while putting the pancake on a plate on top of some other already done pancakes.
Chuuya sat down at the little dining table that was pushed to the wall while he let out a loud sigh and watched as Dazai poured some mix into the pan for another pancake. As Dazai was waiting for the pancake to get done he turned on the small old radio on the kitchen counter. You could ask, who listens to the radio anymore, let alone such an old one when you could even listen to it or to any music from your phone? Well it gave the flat a little bit more of a home atmosphere and was still working so why buy a new one if the old is just as good? It took some seconds for the radio to get the signal but once it did a familiar song came in. Chuuya started tapping his fingers on the table to the song's rhythm and Dazai took a note of that.
He stood in front of him and held his hand out. "May I have this dance?" He asked to the surprise of his partner.
Chuuya just sat there and didn't know how to react at first. "Is there really nothing wrong with you? Why the fuck would I dance with you if it's mot for a mission or something?" He asked, secretly wanting to accept Dazai's offer but in no way would he let that bastard know.
"Because we are dating, Chuuya. Couples dance together quite often, and I just want to dance with you now. Please?" Dazai asked with his puppy eyes that he knew the ginger couldn't say no to. And just as he thought, Chuuya took his hand and stood up from the chair.
The taller boy held his partner's hand as put one of his hands on the other's waist. Chuuya was surprised at first but decided not to say anything about it and just rest his hand on Dazai's shoulder holding his hand tighter. Dazai pulled Chuuya closer to him closing almost every space between them which again surprised the other. They started dancing to the song, it wasn't really slow dancing because the song itself was quite fast. Chuuya at first found the whole thing weird and new but soon started having fun. He even started smiling which Dazai could luckily see and he felt his heart melt at the sight of his boyfriend giggling and having a genuine smile on his already handsome face. They danced to the song for almost a minute when it ended.
Another song came in the radio. It wasn't as familiar to Chuuya but he remembered hearing Dazai listening to it every once in a while. At first it wasn't slow but a bit later it slowed down and so did the two. Chuuya leaned his head on Dazai's chest without even thinking and Dazai put his chin on top of Chuuya's head and held him close, hand in hand and other hand on his partner's waist. Suddenly Chuuya heard the taller whispering along to the song.
"Hold me like you never lost your patience
Tell me that you love me more than hate me all the time
And you're still mine"
These lines got the ginger's attention and started thinking. He was even about to say something when a strong smell hit his nose.
"Dazai, the pancake!" He shouted as they turned around just to see smoke coming from the pan. Dazai ran to the window and opened it as much as he could while getting the now fully burnt pancake out of the pan and waiting for it to cool down so he can throw it away in the trash. Fortunately, that was the last pancake, so now they just waited for the smoke to disappear. After it did, they sat down at the table and Dazai served the pancakes.
Chuuya tasted one expecting it to be terrible but to his surprise for the 100th time this morning it was actually good. "Oi, how did you manage to make them so tasty?" He asked, curious to how Dazai could make something like that even though he's never cooked anything in his life.
"Well, these are just pancakes, anyone can easily make them. Also I threw away the burnt ones, obviously." He said biting into his own food.
They ate in silence for a while until Dazai had a question in his mind. "Hey, Chuuya. Boss texted me that we won't have any missions so it's our day off." He stopped for a moment waiting for the other sitting in front of him to say something.
"That's great. Finally some rest." Chuuya said with a mouthful of pancakes. Dazai just found it both childish and cute.
"So, do you want to go anywhere? In the city or maybe to visit something? I'll pay for everything." He then continued.
Chuuya almost spit everything out that he had in his mouth. "You?! Paying for anything at all? You won't even pay for your own things, let alone someone else's."
"I'm serious. But if you don't want to go anywhere then that's fine too. We can stay home and watch some movies or anything you want." The taller finished as he stood up from the table and put his plate into the sink.
"Well... I'd like to just walk around the city a bit. Maybe eat some ice cream." The ginger just decided to accept Dazai's really weird behaviour for the day and simply go with it.
"Okay then, we should get ready and dress up and we can go." Dazai said taking the empty plate away from his partnera and putting it in the sink.
They put on some comfortable clothes, Dazai for once looked like an actual teenager and wasn't wearing a suit and Chuuya just put on one of his favourite outfits.
"Let's go then." Dazai said in front of the door grabbing his keys and putting his wallet in his bag.
They left the house locking the door behind them and walking outside, heading for the nearest park in the city.
Okay so this took me ages cuz I started writing it the day before Chuuya's bday but I had to stop halfway (because some things happened and also I was lazy) and so I couldn't finish it aaand it would be too long if I wrote down everything in this chapter I had planned. But I came up with an idea to make it work so don't worry, I just needed some time to get myself back together and to think this shit through because I didn't want to delete all of this and didn't know at first how I could rewrite it. And sorry but you'll only get to see Dazai and Chuuya's little date in the next chapter (つω'*) (Which I haven't even started writing yet soo... Fuck)
