Grandma passed away 3 years ago. Grandpa didn't seem fazed at all which I kinda felt offended. Did he really love her? If he did, he would be crying, being grumpy, and never do anything but sit in her special chair. Her special chair is where she would read books to grandpa, read to anyone really. When I wanted to sit in it, he always said, "Let me check if grandma's there!" then look through a dusty monocle.
I don't think you could see anything in there. He would either let me sit there or he wouldn't. Then, he always pretended to talk to her. I think it's some old person thing where they avoid the truth. "It wouldn't be a bad idea but come on, it's been 3 years already gramps! Get a move on! It's kinda like a break up but, your never ever going to see the person ever again."
I felt a cold wind slap my face. Gramps pointed to the door and I walked out shamefully. Gramps said," You should be ashamed for yourself. The woman was right in front in front of you! If she hadn't have slapped you I would!" I immediately had goosebumps. How could he have known I had felt something? I closed the door slightly but heard a bang.
Gramps might've gotten up and closed it but, how could he be so powerful and fast? I shrugged it off and grabbed my backpack and headed to the kitchen. Katie, my older sister, was making breakfast. "You shouldn't have talked to Grandpa that way, A. If mom heard you you would've been in big trouble!", "It isn't my fault that he's a lunatic!" I responded. Mom came down the stairs staring at me saying," He isn't a lunatic! And he shouldn't be called one, Amy! He's going through things his own way! J-just calm down so he doesn't hear us."
I nodded my head yes just because I have sympathy for the old guy. My sister serves me with a smiley face pancake with extra bacon. Maya comes down, dress is wrinkled saying," Why does Amy get extra bacon!?" My sister replies in a "sweet" voice saying," Well Amy is in a bad mood today and she was here first. First person here gets extra bacon, you know that." Maya is my younger sister, well, one of my younger sisters. The other one is getting ready and usually has her breakfast in her room because," A princess should be treated like one. I'm in first grade now wimps. Now, stop being poopy heads and go get me a orange juice!" That one is Layla.
She thinks she is the queen around here or should I say princess. She finally comes down with a plastic tiara on her head that mom quickly snatches. "Mom! Give me back my tiara!" She shouts jumping up and down. Mom then threatens her by saying," Well the princess will be in time out very soon if she doesn't start to dress properly!" She quickly sits down and starts to rummage through her bag for her homework trying to prove she did something good so mom doesn't ground her. After I'm done with my homework I tell mom," I'm off to Rhian's house!" She nods as she's trying to handle Layla and her tiara.
I walk out to the gate and feel all bird box-y. The wind starts picking up and I start running out of fear. Soon, I hear footsteps behind me of the crunchy fall leaves? It's Spring?! I find Rhian's house and the trail to her house. As I approach the house, everything starts to go back to normal and the sun gets brighter and warmer. I slow down to a walk and see Rhian waiting for me at her door. She waves me in and I rush to get to her. Whatever that was, I don't want to deal with anymore.
