Step-by-step tutorial on How to Highlight Hair with IbisPaint X
This is how I usually highlight the hair nowadays, I hope this'll help! There's a version 1 of how to highlight the hair using different brushes here by the way.
I won't make the smudging part too detailed since I've covered it in one chapter here. Check out: ❊ How to: Make Skin & Hair Smooth (Smudge/Blur). I also skipped smudging the skin as it would be misleading :)
ㅡ
1. Add a new canvas with your picture and smudge the hair with the brush Pencil (Graphite) , the second one from the left.

3. Pick a color from the hair of your faceclaim by making a long press. Change the color of the brush as the shade/color changes.

TIP: As for the darker parts of the hair, you can set it to have a lighter shade with the Colors tab. See this:

4. Start brushing the hair, of course, follow the direction of each strand as much as possible. Also, make sure you turned on the force fade (100% on both tips). For the stabilizer, it's optional.

Now we're done in making lines in the hair with the Graphite Pencil, let's proceed.
5. Select the brush Pencil #1 (the first one from the right), we'll use this brush to enhance/make more highlights on the hair. Set its size to 3 in full opacity. Keep the force fade on.
Observe where to enhance the highlights, see this as a guide/example:

Start brushing. Make sure to keep the lines close to each other as much as possible.

TIP: Follow the natural shines on the hair if possible. But if absent, you can assume on which part of the hair will the shine look appropriate. Trial and error would be the key :)
