I turn down a dark alleyway to get to the other side of town. I could either keep running or hide.
When I look over to see if they are still right behind me i run into a hard wall. I groan in pain as I fall down onto the ground. “ owww! Stupid wall!
“You know you should be more careful Sky. Why were you running so fast in the first place?” someone asks but from the voice i knew who it was.
“ yeah yeah i know but what are you doing in the middle of the alleyway?” I ask luke forgetting the reason I was running from and the people I was running from.
“ I was going to Jane’s place to go check on her. What are you doing here? I know you only come out of that barn every other friday or if there is a emergency.” Luke states
“ I’m going to act like you don’t know my full schedule and i’m here because- You have to get out of here now!” i yell remembering that there still chasing me
“Wait. Why? Did something happen?” Luke asks
“There here!” i explain and get up from the ground with the help of luke.
He looked surprised i mean i was too.” What do you mean there here! They never come here!” he yelled.
We hear pounding footsteps from the way I first came into the alleyway. “ There here” I whisper. We start to run away from the sound of our doom if they find us.
We were too worried about running that we didn’t realize that we were coming up to a dead end. As soon as we get to the dead end we knew we were done for.
“I’m so sorry luke this is all my fault” I say looking at luke.
“ No sky we knew this was going to happen sooner or later” luke said frowning
Soon we saw them. Both Jax and Ty came towards us.
“Wow you’re a good runner” Ty said looking at me” now who is this” Said Ty who was now looking at Luke.
“Let him go please!” I plead looking at Ty and jax.
“ and why would we do that?” Jax asks smirking at us.
I look at Luke and sigh then look at Jax “ if you let him go, I will come with you willingly “ I say looking down at the ground.
“Skyler you can’t do that!” Luke yells
“ Luke don’t argue with this it’s for the best. You have to take care of her” I say the last part in a whisper
“ We never agreed to this” jax said with a bored look. I look at him giving a pleading look. He had a bored look on his face until he saw mine. There was a emotion shown on his face but it was gone in a few seconds.
He sighed then his face turned stone cold. He was looking at me when he said to luke “ Go before I change my mind” He starts to walk towards me with a stone cold face. I look down knowing my fate. Soon I felt the cold metal on my wrists
“ you’re not a selfish brat like I thought you were” Jax whispered into my ear.
“ is that a compl- Hey! That rude!” I whisper yell. He replies back by say “ took you long enough”as he smirks.
We start to walk and that’s when I look up to see Luke still standing there looking at me with a sad look.
“ Luke you have to leave.Please! I know you think of me like a little sister and you want to protect me but you have to be a Runner and run!” I yell tears coming to my eyes.
“sky-”
“Go now! promise to protect her.” I yell not caring if they know now.
“ I promise you” Then he does what we do best…… Run.
He never looked back but runners never look back. It’s are moto and it’s how we stay alive.
The tears finally fall down my face like a waterfall. I was crying for Luke and everything else in my terrible life. I was crying because even if I didn’t know Luke that well he was a runner and runners are family to me. He also saved my life 2 years ago and i wouldn’t be alive if it was not for him, so I owe him this.
“Why are you crying?” Ty and jax asked at the same time
“ jinx ten you-” He was stopped by Jax
“ if you finish that sentence I swear you won’t see another day” jax said in a angry tone.
“okay okay sorry” Ty said putting his hands up in the air as if to surrender. Ty then looks at me then asks “ now why are you crying?”
I look at Ty and explain “ Runners will always be family to me no matter what.”i smile
They both looked at each other then look at me. I look at them confused” what?”
“ what do you mean runners are family don’t you have a family?” Ty asks me
I don’t say anything. I was to angry I could tell my face was red some from the crying but mostly because of angry I was.
“ Why does she look like she is going to explode right now?” Ty asks Jax
My sister always use to say I had anger issues and I believed her. So I did what he said….. Explode!
I start to yell” How dare you! How dare you say that! You and your People have split up so many families. I haven’t seen my family in over 6 years I don't even know if there alive or not! If you want to know where my family is ask Jax! The only reason runners are still runner is for the memory of are families!so no Ty I don’t have a family!”I scream at Ty tears falling down my face like a waterfall..
They both looked surprised and guilty. Ty opened his mouth to say something but nothing came out.
“ How do you know our names?” jax asked with a emotion I couldn’t tell.
“ earlier you to were talking louder than you thought and I heard you and your really a heartless man Jax” I say looking at him
He was not standing behind me anymore he went in front of me when Luke left… I hope he made it.
When i came out of my thought I saw the face Jax was making. He looked like he was remembering a sad memory but soon his stone cold face came back
He started coming closer looking very angry. Old terrible memories flashed through my mind. Something i had constant nightmares about.
When he was close to me I flinched and stumbled back not wanting what happened before to happen again.
“ I’m sorry! I’m so sorry please don’t!” I scream in fear
His steps falter his face turns from angry to surprised. That’s when I realized what i just did. No one knew about my past not even Luke or jane.
“ why did you just do that?” Jax asked still surprised
“ I- I don’t know what you’re talking about” I stutter
Both Jax and Ty look at me like they don’t believe me but then Jax comes over to me and grabs my arm and we start to walk back the way we came.
