Unexpected

~This is my first story, hope y'all like it :)~

chapter one:

As I was laying by my pool with my best friend, Nicole, I couldn't believe today was the last day of summer. Tomorrow I'd have to go back to school. Why can't summer last forever?

"Katie! Kate! KATIE LEANN MCCORMICK!" I snapped out of my thoughts as my best friend screamed my name.

"Huh? What?" I looked over at her.

She had a look of annoyance on her face, "Did you even hear a word I just said?" She asked me.

"Um, uh, um. No." I said guiltily. I felt bad for not listening to what she had been ssying. I watched as she got up and walked towards the pool. Her tall, tan figure looking flawless in her bright pink bikini, and her long, wavy, blonde hair swaying behind her.

"I asked what you and Tyler were doing tonight." I couldn't help but pick up on her slightly snotty tone but brushed it off as her just being mad for having to repeat herself.

"Um, I think we are going out to eat or something" I told her.

"Oh, Fun." was her only reply before jumping into the pool.

It was almost 8pm and, Nicole and I had just finished picking out my outfit for tonight. We settled on a light pink summer dress and a pair of white flats. My make up was simple with only some eyeliner and clear lip gloss.

Tyler had called to tell me to meet him at the restaurant on Jennings road at 9. He had to help his parents with something and so Nicole was going to drop me off.

Nicole dropped me off at the restaurant at 8:30. "Have fun" she smiled at me and started to pull away from the curb.

I looked up at the restaurant in front of me, the sighn said 'Le Romantica'. I started towards the door and hoped it wasn't packed. The hostess smiled at me "Welcome to Le Romantica, do you have a reservation?" She asked me.

I smiled back, "It should be under Tyler West" I told her.

"Ahh, yes, right this way ma'am." she gestured for me to follow her, so I did.

The table was right in the middle of the restaurant and had a candle in the middle. This restaurant was romantic but cozy. I was glad Tyler picked this place.

The hostess waited for me to take a seat. "Can I get you something to drink?" she asked me. "A virgin strawberry daquiri please" I asked politely.

A few minutes later she returned with my drink. Now I just have to wait for Tyler. hope he hurries because I'm starving.

After about half an hour I was really getting impatient. What could be taking so long? I checked my phone and had no missed texts or calls. "If he was going to be late then he should have at least called or texted me" I muttered to myself.

"Excuse me ma'am," I looked up to see the hostess smiling sympathetically at me. "We could really use this table, I'm sorry your date didn't show."

I smiled sadly at her and started getting up. "How much for the drink?" I asked her.

She smiled at me, "Don't worry about it hun."

I smiled, "Thanks."

I made my way to the door feeling embarrassed. Why wouldn't Tyler show up? He is the one who planned this?

I figured I should stop by his house and see what was going on. I pulled my phone out of my clutch and dialled Nicoles number. There was no answer. Well that's weird, usually she always answers my calls. I guess I could just walk, I mean his house isn't that far away.

I started walking and wished Nicole had answered her phone. It was kind of chilly out but not too bad.

After about 30 minutes of walking I saw Tyler's street come into view. I smiled feeeling relieved to have finally made it.

As I turned down his street I noticed a car in his drive way. As I got closer to his house the car became familiar. It was Nicoles car. My eyebrows knitted in confusion. What was she doing here?

I pushed my thoughts away and walked up to his front door. There were no lights on except for the porch light. Hmm, that's strange.

I was going to knock on the door but decided against it and just grabbed the spare key under the 'Welcome' mat. I unlocked the door and walked in. I could hear some noise coming from up stairs and slowly made my way towards it.

"Ty?" I heard Nicoles voice say.

"Hmm?" Tyler replied. "Dont you think it's about time you end things with Katie?" I could hear the jealousy in her voice.

"I will soon babe" I heard him reply. Things went quiet so I reached for the door knob. my heart was beating so hard I though it was going to fall out of my chest. My hands were sweating as I turned the door knob and pushed open the door. What I saw broke my heart.
