Someone cleared their throat.
She looked at the direction of the sound and saw Peter Gale standing by the door, looking like he just witnessed something he shouldn't.
Yes! Finally someone can save her.
'Should I come back later?' Peter said, unsure, looking between her and Calum.
'No! Actually, can you take me to Mr. Scotfield...please?' She asked, subtly trying to get herself out of Calum's hold. She might have better luck trying to move a boulder. The man had a firm grip on her.
'Uhm...' Peter looked at them, not sure who he should follow. Finally, after several minutes he looked at Calum. Already, she knew what choice he made, or rather who. She can sense the power play between them. Calum is the authority and Peter is the follower, and she...well, she doesn't know what role she's portraying.
'Sir?' Peter asked, shifting from one foot to the other.
'Chipmunk?' He said, out of the blue.
'Yes.'
'Sir?'
Peter and her said simultaneously. But between them, the man by the door looked more confused than he already was. She ignored him and looked up to the man holding her.
Calum growled in answer. In fact she's beginning to think that it's his talent. His growling is unlike any she'd heard before, and his been doing it quite a lot since they've met.
'Liar.' It was just a word, but the way he said it promised her there was a lot more. Still, instead of being frightened by his silent threat she felt...excited.
Wait just a second....
Her reaction confused her more than the man himself. How can she feel excited from his threat. She must be going insane from all the running. She has to admit, she isn't very keen on doing exercises. Too little oxygen in her brain must have caused a short circuit. There's no other explanation for her reaction.
'What else do you want me to say.' She answered with a look of boredom with a pinch of irritation on her face.
It was exciting taunting him when they had a ten feet distance between them, it's frustrating now that she can't escape from his hold.
'The truth.' He wasn't shouting but his voice boomed in the room. She flinched at the sound. Her heart hammered in her chest as if wanting to come out from its cage.
If there was one thing she hated in this world, its arrogant bastards who think they have the authority to belittle you just becuase they think they can.
'I told you the truth!' She shouted. This man is really testing her patience.
'That you're a chipmunk? You can do better than that.' He smirked, a dangerous kind of smirk. Her heart lurched seeing his upturned lips.
'Not that, stupid. You know what I mean.' Exasperated, she rolled her eyes.
She doesn't know if the man is just clueless or just plain stupid. But she's betting on the latter.
'Watch your words woman.'
'You should follow your own advice...man.' She emphasized the last word like it was the filthiest word she had ever said.
He growled at her. The veins in his neck protruding. His anger palpable in the air.
'Will you stop doing that!' She shouted.
