Jason's POV

'I walk in the woods following a golden light. It seems to brightens as I near it.

Only as I am close enough to see, I scream in agony.

Beneath the benzri rogue is my beautiful mate.

Blood is pouring out of her wounds and she is taking her last breath.

She looks into my eyes, tears flowing from them.

"Why?" she mouths before her eyes roll back into her head.'

I scream and wake up sweaty.

My hands reach for des, but find that the sheets are opened and the bed was cold.

My pulse quickens.

'Des?'

'Jace?' I hear

Her voice is shaking.

'Please come get me, it hurts...' she says in pain

I shift to duke and jump out of the bed and run down the stairs, following her scent to the waterfall.

Around des, the grass is brown and dead.

She sits in a ball, her head in her knees crying.

Her brunette hair was long enough to the point where it covered her bare body.

"Here..." I said sliding a sweatshirt over her head

"What happened?"

"Jace, they are two days away. The war is coming and he is going to destroy this pack and the others with my soul." She cries into my shoulder.

Duke takes control, and shifts us.

Des climbs up into my back and I run back to the pack house.

We get up to our room and I get dressed and as does my mate.

She slips in my shirt and briefs as well as some sweatpants.

We travel down to my parents room, clutching her hand tightly.

I tap the door with my index finger and my father answers.

It was 5:30 in the morning and he had always been awake at five.

I couldn't do it, but this meant nothing now.

"Father, we need to schedule a meeting." I demand

"Alright later.."

"No! now!" I say

His eyes widen and he links the entire pack.

"What is this about? It is too early?" One complains

"War is going to arrive in two days time. The original benzri rogue has been reincarnated and he intends to destroy this pack along with its neighbors with my soul." Des says strong and clear, no fear.

Several people gasp.

"You!" my father says

I growl and protect my mate from being attacked.

"Kill her!" one says

"ENOUGH!" I growl, my alpha voice surfacing

"NONE of you will touch her or you will not live another day. We need to protect her and prepare for war."

"Women and children, travel to the safe site and stay until we tell you it is safe."

"Others who are able to fight, be on your guard. We will take shifts for sleep and guards will be on alert."

"Go, now!" I finish

People scramble under my words and do as I command.

Fear was running through my veins but I wouldn't let it show.

The pack life was on my shoulders and I didn't want any of them to die.
