Greta knew the mistake she made when she walked in.
Shopping for groceries in her nearly starved state was not a good idea. Strolling through the neatly arranged aisles with the vibrant, exploding colours of the food packaging was not making this any easier for her.
As she roamed through the blaring bleeps of the check-out and the mumbles of debating customers, she let her fingers race over the food Jungkook had told her to buy. Barely being able to control herself when she entered the snack aisle. A bag or two of crisps slipping into her trolley.
Soon she found her vibrant environment erode into lighter pastel colours, eyes soon meeting with the unfamiliar aisle. Examining the walls of products around her, it took less than a heart aching moment to realise she was in the baby section.
A familiar sensation of a suffocating ribbon around her neck returned as she realised she had not bought a single thing for her baby.
No warm, cotton blanket that would shield them from the cold, dark world when Greta couldn't. Not even a teddy bear to embrace in their sleep.
She hadn't even thought of a name.
With the guilt intensifying its grip on her, she felt almost compelled to buy something now she found herself solemn of peering eyes. Adventuring further down the aisle, Greta's eyes were instantly drawn to a snow-like, cotton blanket, ornamented with ash-like stars and laced with pink accents.
Its touch was soft. Just one touch sent her body melting into comfort.
"Well, well, well, hello there Greta." A voice interrupted, Greta not being able to stop herself from flinching at the sudden interruption. Not to her surprise, the voice belonged to Yoongi.
She tried to draw her best smile. "Detective Min... umm—hi."
"What exactly brings you to the baby aisle?" He questioned, his examining eyes drawing into her skin as if she couldn't see him.
"I'm looking for a gift... a family friend just had a baby... so I wanted to get something nice." She chatted, distracting herself from the anxiety Yoongi awakened in her. "What exactly brings you to the baby aisle?" She mimicked, earning a scoff from the older man.
"I saw you and I thought I would say hi." He spoke, displaying his gummy smile. "Oh—that reminds me. Since you're so... interested in the case, I thought I should let you know, we're really making some break throughs with that list of yours." He added.
Her eyebrows ascended. "Oh... r-really?" She puzzled.
"Yes... why exactly do you sound surprised by that?... was that list not meant to be helpful?" He interrogated, the friendly atmosphere of the scene fleeing.
"What? No, of course it was meant to be helpful... I'm just... s-surprised it's made that much of an impact to the case." She guessed, not fooling the sharp character with a single hesitant word she spoke. As she watched the suspicion wash over his face, she knew it was time to leave. "Well... anyway, I would love to chat all day, but I have things to do and you have a murder case to solve." She smiled, sacrificing no time for his reply as she retrieved the flawless blanket and rolled the trolley away in the company of a goodbye.
Feeling the familiar gaze burn into the back of her head, she swiftly escaped to a nearby aisle.
Yoongi seemed to appear in every scene Greta performed in, slowly seeing through her opaque act and analysing her trail of lies.
It was only time before he reached the end of the trail and realise what she had done.
