Darkness, it had always been a part of me, I've never feared it, I welcomed it.
Everything starts with nothing until it consumes all in the blink of an eye, but one thing always remains, a deafening silence. No matter what one does, a threatening and pressuring silence always lays on you.
But not all fear it, many welcome it and let it consume them.
A creature, made out of pure corruption and hatred, with the desire to destroy all, its name was:
Shads. In the beginning, he had been something else, he knew that much. But what he had been he could not recall. It did not matter now, he was himself and that was all that mattered to him in this very moment.
Shads, at least that's what most called him, had a lot of plans for this world, every pawn would be played and used to it's fullest no matter if willingly or not.
His eyes were currently focused on a single mirror which reflected his own humanoid form.
Black cracks scarred his skin and mind and bags had formed under his eyes. His usual black curly hair was messy and not well handled, nor cared for.
Usually, people would call him quite attractive, but his current appearance showed none of that, Shads was tempted to call himself something but refrained from it as his ego would not allow such.
He took a deep breath, letting a hand run through his hair and the other form a flicking motion he suddenly changed appearance as his form was now fixed up, but that did not mean it was on the inside too. Lack of sleep still plagued him in the inner but it was nothing he didn't know and a cup of coffee couldn't fix. With heavy steps, he made his way into the kitchen grabbing subconsciously a coffee mug and placing it under the coffee machine which he pressed the button on, after a few mechanical sounds a moment of waiting was the hot and steaming liquid being poured inside, he was soo tired he had completely blocked out the fact that he was still wearing his pyjamas and everything else basically.Shads took a satisfying sip of the coffee as he made his into the living room, said the room is dimly lit by the large TV which was mounted on the wall. Current on tv was a comedy show he didn't quite know, not good, not bad, the perfect mix of the between for someone like himself who preferred to keep standards. He sat down on the couch like a potato sack as he took another sip from the coffee and started focusing on the tv, slowly drifting away into not paying attention to anything at all. Though he did know that he could hear at the back of his mind a faint sound of knocks which sounded just like his front door, of course, that wasn't possible. At least that was the case until it was kicked open by force letting in the outside light which was like poison to him.
Shads turned to face the door only to spot a figure rushing inside the house, making it's way quickly across the hallway and deeper inside. He raised an eyebrow, confused on why someone would've entered his house by force at this hour of the day.
He got up, stretching his limps to get rid of the plaguing tiredness within them and made a call to the stranger without knowing if they heard him "Hey! You there come back here!" As he received no answer, he decided to follow and made his way down the hall, eyes open to spot anything out of the ordinary.
Of course, he wouldn't have dared to leave his coffee behind and was steadily taking sips of the sacred hot steaming liquid. The hallways were dark and barely lit, mostly because Shads despised light with his very being. Darkness gave whoever intruded a seemingly endless possibility to hide but such was not the case, as he could see perfectly inside the dim lit halls. The only thing he had problems with were the occasional stumbling over the carpet which his eyes struggled to register as perfectly as he took up the rest of the area.
What alerted him most of the location of the stranger was a rustling of footsteps from the dining room followed by a small shriek. His steps got heavier the closer he got to the dining room, metallic noise filled the hall as his feet clicked against the floor. Carefully and strategically placed steps soon had made their way to the entrance of the room and peeking inside revealed a figure in the further back, cowering down on the floor in seemingly fear as they shivered badly and were sobbing quietly.
The room was pitch black with no windows letting light enter through them, the only way to see was the faint and dim light coming from the hallway which was not enough to light the entire room in the least. Pictures hang on the walls of persons that had passed away millennials ago and had perhaps never set foot into this house, yet they seemed so familiar to hang here. The figure was slim and rather skinny, almost frail and in no case human that's as much as the creatures aura told him.
He took steps closer to the person, careful to not scare them as he crouched down to their higth and spoke carefully "Hey there.. what Cha doin?" With a cunning and teasingly evil tone in his voice.
The kid shuddered, cuddling up more and pulling his legs to his chest as if he would have a need to be scared of Shads, absurd.
The shadow however felt a bit depressed by that and eyed the boy again, perhaps he was hungry? That thought in mind and he was inside the kitchen once more, reaching for a noodle cup inside the cupboards and turning on the water boiler. The water was steaming as he poured it inside the cup and stirred it quickly with a fork before returning to the kid with a genuinely kind smile sitting it down infront of the other. "Eat, you can tell me everything else once you've finished. Just tell me your name first" He smiled.
The child looked at Shads hesitantly but after a while muttered a name and began to eat with huge enthusiasm."Nick, huh?"
