It was late at night, around 7:45 PM, when I said goodbye to Diamond at the front of her doorway. It was a Friday, so after school we agreed to go watch a movie and then go to her house and just order some food and hang. She wanted me to sleep over but I declined remembering my family had plans to go visit my aunt and cousins. It was dark and I was considering calling my mom so she could pick me up but decided not to considering we only live two blocks away from each other.
As I was walking home, I saw from the corner of my eyes that a car was near me driving slowly. Then when I was close to crossing the street the car turned the corner extremely quickly the I was shocked. Then all of a sudden I felt someone behind me and they put a rag over my mouth. I have seen this in so many movies. the character breathes and they faint. So I tried to hold my breath, but I couldn't hold it for long so eventually I took a big breath and I slowly felt my body go limb until my eyes shut.

It's been a year since I've been taken. They never tried to get in contact with my parents. I thought they wanted a ransom, but at this point I see they don't. I have come to learn that the person that kidnapped me had been watching and following me for at least three months. All I've been doing since I got here was clean and cook. I was, in other words, their maid. Although the house is always a mess and I don't get any type of fresh air, when I'm done I get to go to the basement where I've made it close to a home for me. I get books as a reward so any free-time I get I spend it reading.
I'm not totally alone in this house though. After a few weeks of being taken, I learned that the guy that took me had a son. He's two years older than me and even though he's sometimes an a**hole, he can also be nice. In my time here, he's made sure I had enough clothes, that I had eaten, and that I was comfortable where I was sleeping. I don't know if I'm beginning to like him, but I know that I can't stay here forever.
