"Are you sure you want to work overtime again, Luna?"
Ginny Weasley leaned against the rosewood desk as she tossed the paperweight like an oversized Snitch. She eyed Luna who was scribbling like mad on the report she was finishing, awaiting her response.
"It's alright, Ginny. Really, it is." Luna said without looking up from her work. Her eyebrows were furrowed in concentration and her hand was caressing her throbbing temple-- but her voice showed no sign of strain and still managed to sound like her usual dreamy self.
"Besides, there's not much to do in my apartment, anyway. I have just finished furnishing the place. It's gotten dangerously boring there, to be honest."
After Luna returned from Ireland, she decided that her home in Ottery St. Catchpole was too much of a sad reminder of her dead father. That place just looked empty and despite the colorful oddities adorning the house, it felt dark without her father's presence as if Xenophilius was the very soul that kept it a home. So, until such time that she decided to return to it, she guarded it with charms and other precautionary spells to ward off unwanted intruders.
Fortunately, an apartment complex just opened up on the outskirts of Diagon Alley in which she rented a nice one bedroom suite. It's nowhere near like her home but it is the best she can have at the moment.
Ginny let out an exasperated sigh which was followed by the muffled thunk of the paperweight as she set it on stacked memos.
"But we still have a lot of catching up to do. We missed you, you know?" With this, Ginny basically pouted like a little girl who was told that she could not eat any more Chocolate Frogs.
"Plus, it's Friday. What sane person works over time on a Friday night?"
The two went on like this for what felt like eternity-- Luna arguing that she needed to finish her paperwork and Ginny insisting that Luna needed to unwind and catch up with things.
After a solid 10 minutes, Ginny finally made Luna agree to their night out which garnered a squeal of triumph from the former and an amused chuckle from the latter.
"I suppose it won't hurt to go." Luna admitted which made Ginny's grin ever so wider.
"Splendid! I'll tell Harry and the others to meet us in the Leaky Cauldron." It was more of a statement rather than a suggestion and Luna knew that there was no arguing where Ginny is involved.
However, she did need to pass a certain report before she left work. It was the report she had been working on ever since she started her job and she was instructed specifically to hand it over before the week ended.
"That's all very good, Gin. How about you join them? I'll be there, I promise." With a final stroke of her quill, Luna signed the paper and waved it for Ginny to see. "I just need to pass this report."
Ginny agreed and after a rather sloppy side hug and a playful threat of "you better come, Luna, or I swear to Merlin you will regret it.", she left Luna's office
Silence ensued after her friend left which was broken by a tired yawn that involuntary escaped from her mouth. As her hands stretched over her head, Luna accidentally caught sight of her wristwatch, reminding her that it was indeed late-- meaning that there could be no one she could pass the report to.
"Dear Merlin!" She gasped before slinging her bag around her shoulder and grabbing the report folder. Her desk was not even bothered to be tidied up as she raced to the door.
Luna sprinted through the maze of corridors-- and by sprinted, she wobbled precariously on her mauve stilettos. She raced to the lift and pressed the button impatiently, tapping her foot in an anxious rhythm as she waited for the door to open.
