Rewind:

Ziyi frowned. "Hey, don't say that. We all deserve to debut but we accepted this oppurtunity. All we need to do is try and grab it. Jiayao Ruibin!"

Ruibin smiled at him, thankful for his kind words. He was right after all, this industry only chooses what the people wants.

"5 minutes until we start everyone!"

----------------------------------------

Orion was sitting beside Lay and the other trainor with their clipboards with the trainees profiles on the table infront of them.

All of them were lined up, all done performing. This stage was so crucial to them. It's like intead of the national producers picking out who are the best to them it's the trainors who will be picking the final 9.

They were all looking like they were holding their breaths, ready to faint. Some couldn't help but make little mistakes during their performance because of their nervousness.

"We will call you all back and announce the 9 trainees who will be performing this stage." Lay dissmissed them.

They did as he said and went to their waiting room silently. No one said anything, complete silence filled the room. It was clear that tension buzzed heavily on their shoulders.

Sweat dripped down slowly on Fan Chengcheng's exposed forehead. His eyes were downcast.

'I messed up real bad.' He thought painfully, remembering a little stumble at one part of the song.

Burying his face down on his hands, he sighed deeply. Justin approached him with a frown.

"What's wrong gege?"

Chengcheng slouched on his seat. "I messed up." He mumbled.

Justin looked at him cluelessly. "What? You did?"

"I freaking stumbled on the bridge. I know it was so damn noticable. Don't play dumb with me Justin."

Justin looked at him blankly before calling out a certain person. "Jungjung gege!"

Jungjung who was sitting beside Ruibin snapped his head as his name was called. He caught on Justin nudging towards the crestfallen boy beside him and immediately sat beside him.

"What's up with you?"

"He said he messed up on the bridge. Stumbled very noticably he said." Justin couldn't contain his snickers.

Jungjung flicked his forehead, giving him a warning look which he caught and instantly stopped.

"Chengcheng, you did perfectly." He said softly. It was the truth, honestly. He did amazingly. "It wouldn't be a surprise to us if you got one of the spots. It would be though if you weren't called."

"Yeah, gege! I really think that you fit the stage the most. I'm not even lying." Justin added with an encouraging smile.

"Jiayou, Chengcheng. Remember your goal." Jungjung patted his head affectionately. "Now cheer up."

Just as he had said that a staff member came in and called them back to the recording area.

All of the remaining trainees went to their perspective groups in front of Lay and the other mentors.

"We have the list of the nine trainees. This desicion was made from your lessons, time with your mentors and the pre-performance you had a few minutes ago. The producer of this song, Lee Orion had also kept a close eye on you all. He was a part of the desicion making as well." Lay announced. "I definitely was impressed by your performances and hard work thoughout the short amount of time given to you for this special stage. You all did very well and made it very hard for us to deliberate. But there can be only be nine who will do this. And they are...."
