She flicked her ears, crossing her arms defiantly. She couldn't believe he was making such a big deal that she was part fox! It was ridiculous. Despite the amount of times she had tried to warn him before she revealed herself, he still acted like this! It was just so foolishly human to do, she sighed. She grabbed his wrist as she pulled him into the closet, shutting the door behind him. They couldn't let anyone else from the party see them here, especially her!
"What are you doing!?" He exclaimed, reaching to open the door. She tightened her grip and moved his hand away.
"We can't let anyone see us... or me when I'm exposed like this," she replied in a much more hushed voice. She used her other hand to pull her hood back and up, hiding her ears. Her adrenaline died down a bit as she relaxed and hesitantly released her grip on his wrist, biting her lip nervously. "Do you hate me now? Or think I'm.. a freak?" She asked, scared to know the answer. She had to leave town when she was in 8th grade because somebody had found out and.. yeah..
So she hoped the same thing wouldn't happen. She had trusted him, as they were really close friends.
He took a few deep breaths before answering. "Of course not." She gazed at the floor, wishing he hadn't taken so long to answer. It was stupid to wish that; she could understand why he was so freaked out, but she just wished he wasn't. "Skylar," he began, grabbing her shoulders until looking into her eyes until she looked back. "I would never hate you."
Maybe it was some left over adrenaline, or maybe she was just being stupid, but she leaned forward and kissed him, trying to decide if her heart was exploding with fear or joy. The kiss lasted about 2 seconds, and as she pulled back she whispered, "even now?"
