Hello guys! Author here, this is my first book so if anybody reads this please vote! Again, it's my first book so I would appreciate no hate. Thank you!

I have to leave, Ada thought to herself. I need to get Ally and Asher away from here as well as myself.  Ally and Asher are Ada's sister and brother. Ally is 9 and Asher is 10.

Ada grabs 3 backpacks, one for each of them, and filled one with clothes, another with lots of food, and the last one with blankets, small pillows, and other essentials they may need. Ally and Asher were in the other room getting clothes on, ready to leave, and Ada was also getting ready. As soon as she was dressed, she went into her younger sibling's room.

She walked in to see them ready and sitting on the floor where they slept together, waiting for Ada to come get them.  Ada put the backpacks down quietly, as she didn't want to disturb their horrible excuse for a mother. Ada was taking no risks.

"Which backpack of these two", she pointed to the backpacks with food and clothes, "I'm taking the one with blankets and essentials." She pushed the two smaller backpacks forward and kept the bigger one. Ally took the one with food and Asher took the one with clothes. "Are we ready? You guys can get a stuffed animal or two if you would like. Put them in my bag."

Ally grabbed her torn stuffed bear and dirty stuffed lamb, while Asher took his torn stuffed dinosaur and bear. They both have the same bear. They originally had brand new toys, the same ones, but became torn and dirty as their mother stopped cleaning the house and their father started drinking with their mother.

They put their toys into her bag, and they quietly walked out. Ada had her siblings go out first, as she was older and needed to watch for their mother. Ada was 15, turning 16 in two days. They went out and Ada followed closely behind. She shut the door as quiet as she could and they walked down the driveway.

Ada lead her siblings far from their house into the city, there wasn't many cars, as it was around 3 A.M.. They avoided the ones that were out by hiding behind dumpsters and in alleyways. Ada soon found a gas station that was open and led her siblings inside, they cautiously looked around. It was a decent gas station. Ada went to the bathroom with Ally and Asher went into the other bathroom.

Ada got inside her backpack and got out a couple of dollars to buy some water bottles, since they only had empty ones. "Stay in here while I go buy some water, I'll get Asher to stay in here with you." She told Ally, and went to get Asher. She walked into the men's bathroom and called for Asher. He appeared and said, "I'm right here," Ada was relieved and had told him to go into the girls bathroom and stay with Ally while she bought some water. "Okay," Asher nodded and followed her out, then went into the women's bathroom.

Ada waited until he was gone and grabbed 3 bottles of water for 75 cents each. I have enough money for a few snacks, she thought, and grabbed a small bag of pretzels, and 2 bags of chips. Just enough.. Ada went up to the cashier and bought her things, then went into the bathroom to get her siblings. She called for them and waiting until they appeared. "Let's go, I had enough money for a bag of pretzels and 2 bags of chips. So we have extra snacks and water. Make sure to save as much water as possible, we'll start out with just drinking one bottle and move onto the next when it's gone." Ally and Asher nodded, and followed beside her closely as they left the station.

Ada opened Ally's backpack to put away 2 bottles and kept out the snacks. They all sat on a bench in front of the gas station and drank some water. Ada opened a bag of chips for her siblings to share and she watched for danger until they were done.

As they finished what they had, with a little over half a bottle of water left, they got up and started walking again.

They all began to get tired, of walking and getting sleepy, Ada found a good alleyway and led them in to settle for the night. Ada took their backpacks and set them down into a good, hidden spot. She took out 3 small pillows and 6 very small blankets. Two blankets for each of them. She laid down 3 blankets for herself and for Ally and Asher. Her siblings laid down and she covered them up, then laid in between them and covered herself up to sleep. Ada fell into the foreboding, yet peaceful darkness that was welcoming her, and she gladly accepted it.
