Summer's eyes fluttered, the heat from the sun splashing through the window onto her face. She let out a tiny, "oomph" as she rolled over. She lay there for a few moments, listening to all the sounds. The sounds of the birds chirping, her own breathing, her Mother talking to her Father in the kitchen directly below her room. Instead of rolling over and going back to sleep, she got out of bed and walked over to the window. She sat there, on the window seat, just staring out into the still morning. It seemed funny to her how one day, you can take everything for granted so easily, never imagining it could be taken away. Yet the next, you appreciate nothing more than every little thing, because you're aware that someday soon, it will be.
