Anon: How would Roman react to his like soulmate saying that he didn't love her as much as she loved him during an argument. Please make it really angsty
The pair of you were in a huge screaming match, probably one of the worst you've ever been in, despite it starting from something so small. Both of you had tempers and when you were in the right (or wrong) moods anything could set you off. This fight would not have been as big of a deal as it was if you hadn't been arguing about the same things every time.
Roman had never been an overtly affectionate man. You knew that before you got together with him and it was fine because he showed his love in other ways. He would take you out to wonderful dinners, take you on trips to all the places you'd ever wanted to go and occasionally take days off of work just to spend time with you. He wasn't the most into PDA and telling you he loved you, but he would prove his adoration for you when you were alone.
That was before, though. You had been together for almost 4 years now and despite the first 3 being magical this past one had been less than spectacular. The fights had become more regular and much more intense. Additionally, the time the two of you spent together was less frequent and substantial. This had gotten drastically worse the past couple of months.
Although you lived together it felt like you never saw him. He would come home much later than normal, eat dinner well after you already had, help you tuck in Nadia and continue to work from home in his office, where you weren't allowed. He would come up to bed after you had fallen asleep, despite your attempts to wait up for him, wake you up to fuck then pass out.
You knew what the white tower meant to Roman and tried to be patient but you finally had enough. On top of this, he was so stressed that all it took was one little remark to set him off.
You were so sick of this. All you had ever done to Roman was love him and help him with whatever you could. You knew you would never be able to fully undo the damage his mother did to him but, hell, you tried. You were there for him whenever he needed you, you put your dreams and career on hold to take care of his daughter like she was your own, and all you expected in return was the slightest bit of respect and attention but apparently, that was too much. So, you snapped.
"Fuck you," you said abruptly, interrupting Roman's one-sided screaming match. His eyes widened but before he could fire something back you narrowed your eyes at him, repeated yourself quietly then added on "you don't even care about me, about us do you?"
Roman was shocked. You were the love of his life, the person who made him believe in having a love of his life and the fact that you thought you were not everything to him shook him to his core. He was speechless but managed to get over his initial shock.
"What?... Baby... I-" He began to stutter out but you interrupted him again. "Save it," you say and attempt to leave the room but he grabs your arm after a few steps.
"Baby, stop. You know I love you more than anything" He tried to convince you.
"No, you really don't" You quipped back, holding back your tears "You've never loved me as much as I love you" you continued and stormed up to your bedroom but this time he let you go.
While you cried yourself to sleep over the tatters of your relationship Roman was downstairs, drinking and replaying the past months over and over again in his mind. Even though he loved you more than he could express, he could understand why you thought the way you did. He had ignored you and completely taken advantage of you the past few months. He sighed and finished off his drink before joining you in bed.
The next morning you woke up to loud classical music being played from somewhere downstairs. Confused, you got up and headed down to see where it was coming from. To your surprise, all you saw were giant bouquets of your favourite flowers covering the entire main floor of the house. You also saw Roman placing a plate of your favourite breakfast down on the dining table, and in the corner of the room, the source of the noise that woke you up; Roman's iPod playing the symphony you absolutely adored after seeing it live at one of the orchestra houses in Europe Roman had taken you to.
Roman noticed you standing at the top of the stairs staring at him. "Breakfast?" He asked. You nodded and went downstairs to join him, sitting at the table. He scratched the back of his head nervously and looked at his iPod. "Even I can't get a live band to make a house call this early in the morning with no notice" He rambled. When you still said nothing he added: "Peter has Nadia for the day so it's just us, for a while at least..." He continued. You took a bite out of your food and let out an mmm. "This is really great Rome. Thank you" you told him. You took another look around the house, seeing all the effort he had put into this morning and smiled. Roman came around to where you sat and kneeled in front of you, taking both your hands in his. "Look... I know I've been shit lately, I'm sorry. Works been hell but I never should've put it before you and I promise to make it up to you. I love you more than anything, I know I don't tell you enough but I really do I-" You interrupted him once again but this time with a kiss. "I love you too" you mumbled against his lips. When you pulled away, he smiled but then changed his expression to that familiar Godfrey smirk of his and said "Now finish your breakfast so I can prove to you just how wrong that 'you love me more than I love you' shit really is" and kissed your forehead.
After you ate your food Roman spent the rest of his day eating you :)
