"It's Friday, a couple weeks after I moved in and um... I guess it's great. Winter is fun and all but personal space isn't much of a concept for her, and I don't think many other people are welcoming either. So, I guess classes are okay in like a class kind of way. But-"
"Summer, Honey, Cheesecake, Pumpkin Pie! Relax, isn't your philosophy to take Hakuna Matata to the max or some shit like that?" a girl on the phone said, she sounded quite annoyed.
"Well yeah but-" Summer started twirling her hair.
"But nothing! You're fine! Your classes are fine! Your roommate is fine. Every fucking person in the goddamn college is fine!" the girl shouted.
"Why are you being so mean?!" Summer shouted into her phone.
"BECAUSE IT"S FUCKING TWO IN THE MORNING!!!!!" she shouted back. Summer took a deep breath, hung up the phone and sluggishly went over to the bay window. She sat down and stared out of it. Lights were shining from all over the campus, especially from the coffee shop across the street. It was small, and cozy, but bold. It made it so popular, so classic.
"I could really go for a Black Coffee right now."She grumbled. Two in the morning was a very busy time on campus. The night clubs were still open and the room across from her still smelled of booze. She threw on a grey hoodie, white tights, and some Vans. Summer opened the door and covered her nose, it really reeked of alcohol now. She shook her head disapprovingly and slipped down the hall, someone was very drunk and stopped her.
"Got any Liquor?" He asked.
"No, but you have some," she replied, and pointed to his stomach,"in here." He looked down at his stomach, smiled at her, and started stumbling away poking at his stomach then started hitting it. She turned left and stood in the elevator, pressed ground floor, and waited. It dinged open and she left through the front door. Normally she'd be smelling salt water, fish, and the pungent smell of alcohol. She could only smell freshly brewed coffees and pastries, salt water, and the sweet sweet smell of pancakes and bacon! She pushed open the door and smiled at the girl wiping down the front counter.
She was in black flats, white pants, a coffee colored shirt, and a green apron with the coffee shop's logo on it. She was African American but her skin looked more like Carmel. She had short hair and happy eyes.
"Hi Chloe." Summer beamed rubbing her eyes.
"What? Girl don't tell me you were sleeping! Today is Half Off Coffee Day. Let me make you something. How does two of the usual and a hot bagel sound." Chloe asked jumping over the counter.
"Thanks." Summer yawned. In about a minute of two she was handed two Grande Black coffees and a warm, fluffy, pale, bagel and was sitting near Chloe at one of the cute little tables. Chloe sat down in front of her with a Venti Cortado.
"You know," Chloe began sipping on her drink, "that bagel reminds me of someone."
"Who?" Summer asked, face full of food as she was slurping down her drinks.
"You, it's just like you."
"How so?"
"Well, it's very white," Chloe started as Summer giggled
"Continue continue."
"Its hard on the outside but soft on the inside,"
"Are you saying that I push too many people away?"
"Precisely. Now Hush!"
"Fine, and lastly?"
"Lastly... it's hot, like super hot." Chloe looked up at Summer who was halfway through the bagel and had already finished one coffee.
"Well, yeah," Summer responded, "isn't that why it says 'Caution: Components Are Hot' on the bagel container thingy?" Chloe face palmed and sighed.
"Summer, I'm calling you hot and you're purposely acting oblivious!" She pouted and Summer finished the last of her order.
"So if I date you, can I get free coffees?" Summer asked, Chloe nodded very quickly.
"In that case, no. Im not going to be the person who uses you for my own personal gain." she said standing up and placing some money on the table.
"But you can get a ten dollar tip for being cute and my friend since like third grade."
"Yeah, funny how we ended up at the same college together." Chloe said looking into her cup.
